    Best Dock for iPod..

I'm actually curious about this as well. A quick search on the portable forum yielded mostly posts about (no way!) portable docks for use with portable amps. Didn't come up much on this forum either.

    ReadyMade magazine "MacGyver contest"

Some guy made little speakers using old headphonesm, altoids tins, and playing cards. Not a huge technical achievement or anything, but I thought it was pretty amusing. http://www.readymademag.com/feature_12_macgyver.php

    Motion-tracked binaural sound

This looks (sounds?) pretty cool: http://www.news.ucdavis.edu/search/n....lasso?id=7058 Looks like the guy in the picture is using Senn 580's. Here's the project's website: http://interface.cipic.ucdavis.edu/CIL_html/CIL_MTB.htm

What you think about Head-Fi's new look?

I think Keanu said it best. Whoa. And that thread hover is going to save a lot of time.

    Shure E3C in Wired

http://www.wired.com/news/gizmos/0,1452,62411,00.html Kind of too short, not much mention of alternatives (I'd say the ER-4 is really the direct competion). And I probably wouldn't wear them riding a bike.... edit : whups, hadn't gotten to the headphone forum yet.

GRADO PS-1 PRO -- Pictures (kinda) & Dealer Address

Very nice pictures. I'm really curious how these sound (to me, that is - not that I'll likely ever get the chance). Isn't it strange that they produced new drivers for these? (I'm impressed that you went in there to check it out)

LotR: The Two Towers: Platinum Edition

Actually, I thought it was the rangers (Aragorn's crew from up north) who rejoined him at Helm's Deep. I agree that the Elves in the movie were a nice touch - for such a cheesy sequence their arrival was actually quite moving, and introducing the rangers at this stage would have been confusing...

    Bay Area meets coming up?

Kinda sucks, but I have too much I need to get done this weekend, a combination of work and other stuff. But I am nearby, so I'll try to get out for an hour or two. Happy Thanksgiving!

    Bay Area meets coming up?

I have a pair of balanced silver serpents, probably a lower tier IC but I'll bring them. I'm not sure about the potluck - I'm sure I'll be tired of cooking and stuff by this weekend. Would anyone prefer to chip in for some takeout? Also, I was wondering if anyone has either the Pearl...

    Bay Area meets coming up?

I'd say the later date is probably better. I've seen traffic back up from Raiders games starting 10 in the morning before (for 1:00 games though), although with the way this season is going maybe nobody will show up. Plus, I guess some people will still have family around. That said, I'm also...

    Bay Area meets coming up?

I've been MIA from this thread for a while, but I'd definitely like to come out to an Oakland meet. Stuff I could bring: CAL Delta/Sigma 2, Corda HA-2, Grado SR-300. X-LP2 is a good, portable phono stage if there's a vinyl rig that needs it. By the way, Bob - I think I saw you in a Mexican...

Woodwind Musicians: What brand of reed do you use?

Hey, the hand carving thing isn't so far-fetched. If you get something harder like a 4.5, and use a sharp, straight blade to thin it down a bit, you'll end up with a more balanced, customized reed. It takes some time, and you'll screw up a few reeds while figuring out what you're doing, but it's...
