Got a turntable! Cartridge suggestions?
Hey guys, I just picked up a technics SL-D2 from the audio shop here. Its in a great condition and even came with the manual They put a audio technica SS331E/U cartridge on it, but obviously I'd like something better. I want to spend $100 or under, so should I be going for something like the...- n4k33n

My digitalized turntable experiment was successful; questions raised
After a short first foray into vinyl which ended with a dead belt engine, I've been wanting to get into vinyl. I wanted to know if it were possible to create a good vinyl rig on the cheap. What I bought: Ion Turntable, TTUSB10. I got this particular one because it seemed like it was cheap...- n4k33n

Audiophile Linux software
I would also suggest switching from ALSA to OSS (not OSS emulation, real OSS). Get that here opensound.org- n4k33n

Audiophile Linux software
Actually there IS a program like ASIO in Linux. Its called Jack. It brings the latency down to ASIO levels. I highly advise you get it working. It has trouble working with amarok, so I would suggest going with Audacious or Juk- n4k33n

Just got the Ultra Micro Amp...
Computers have an incredible amount of interference in them sometimes, and to me it wasn;t very obvious until I did an A/B test. Get a 2nd source, even if its a cheap dvd player, and compare it to the sound of the headphone out jack. I think you will be in for a shock.- n4k33n

Sound card for a digital transport
Hi everyone. This might be a stupid question but here it goes. I use a headroom ultra microdac. This has an upsampling ad1896 chip which also functions as a reducer of jitter before sending off to the cs4398. Right now I am using an onboard Intel HDA soundcard to push the digital out via...- n4k33n

Apogee Duet - who is not impressed because of software limitations?
Theres probably a way to hack cygwin with coreaudio's linux port to get this working. Or maybe in a native linux enviornment. Anyone have a duet who is willing to lend it out for science?- n4k33n

Which sound card would you choose?
Why are you getting a high price sound card if you aren't playing games? Why not get an external dac?- n4k33n

Is the Pico (as a DAC/Pre-amp) really all that?
If you are looking for a dac in that price range you might want to use the Headroom Ultra Microdac. It does 24/192 upsampling using an AD1896 to the dac (CS4398). It has inputs for optical and coax, and usb and is in a nice looking small form factor. It hasn't been reviewed much, as it came out...- n4k33n
