Audio Technica ATH-M40x: The Little Brother that Could
General question here: If v-shaped headphones have recessed mid thus recessed guitars and vocals, then why most people pick v-shaped headphones and call them more fun? I mean, most of the music out there has guitars or vocals, doesn't it?- MusicBox

Audio Technica ATH-M40x: The Little Brother that Could
But can I replace those earpads with new ones? Would they fit in? I tried to check if I can remove them and there seems to be a plastic between the earpads and the drives. Do I pull the earpads over the plastic?- MusicBox

Just a question, did you change the ear pads because they were worn off/destroyed? If yes, then how much time did it take them to be worn off?- MusicBox

Audio Technica ATH-M40x: The Little Brother that Could
What do you mean? These headphones play loud enough without an amp, they are made to be portable and not needing an amp. What could an amp offer besides more loudness which is already on high levels?- MusicBox

Audio Technica ATH-M40x: The Little Brother that Could
The sound is very good and flat for its price range, but the headphones are definitely bad for bassheads. Still a little uncomfortable, however I have read that around 50 hours of use they get better. I will update at some point.- MusicBox

The Takstar, Technical Pro, Gemini Greathon, CyberX, Qpad Thread
Does Kingston HyperX Cloud (aka Takstar pro 80) need a dedicated sound card or an amp to play loud enough? I want to drive it through my onboard sound card or my cellphone.- MusicBox

Are Gemini HSR-1000 and Superlux HD668B any good? These are cheaper but perhaps they are better than the m40x or hd 439 (price is not always quality).- MusicBox

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
I have access in most famous entry-mid range brands such as Sennheiser, AKG, audio-technica, denon, sony etc. But it seems their models on this price range are mediocre. I guess I will have to compromise for now. However could you tell me what is so bad about m40x headphones? In every review...- MusicBox

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
The v-moda m-80 are very rare in my country, I found only one shop selling V-Moda Crossfade M-80 and it costs 200 euros :( Basically I noticed that they are sold in US mostly, they are rare and costly everywhere else. Besides that, it seems their pads are not replacable (correct me if I'm...- MusicBox

Sennheiser HD 449 vs Audio Technica ATH-M50
Can I easily change the pads on the m40x? Also, do I have to get pads specificly designed for the m40x, or I can buy lets say some shure's or sennheiser pads and place them on m40x?- MusicBox
