What's the difference in sound quality between the 9038S balanced and the 9038D unbalanced?

I'm still waiting on my 9038D to be delivered but for 600 ohm headphones logic says that the PowerDAC v2.1 should be your choice.

For 600 ohm you will surely need the PowerDAC v2.1 as no 9038 variant will be sufficient.

I didn't find the PDV2 version and instead bought the 9038D variant... does this one work any good with the Verum 1 Mk 2?

A system like this one would be desirable:

Pads should never be glued into place... they should be easy and quick to remove and to put on.

Some reviewer wanted the Aeon 2 Noire in matte black.. that would look so boring to me. Myself I would want them in candy apple red.

I think that it's the perforations that brings the better sound quality.

I will have to get me one of those combined Amp/DAC's for sure... don't want my headphones to sound less than what it should. You got two pairs of pads?! Now I'm jealous as I only got a single pair of pads in perforated plastic.

I think that they are meant to run directly from your phone so they are no studio headphones in any shape or form.

So if you put perforated pads on the red closed Aeon 2's it gives the exact same sound? Are the pads glued into place? Sigh... and I prefer the look of the red ones.
