Darkish neutral tonality with high-end level of transparency. Preference for closed-back designs. So far I found my happy place with closed-back planars. Need to try those ribbon and AMT headphones someday though...

As a general rule of thumb, my observation is that price is not always correlated to sound quality: I've heard kilobucks headphones and IEMs that sound objectively worse than sub-$500 reference models. Tuning and technology are what matter, not fancy materials.
