    September 10th, 2016: Arizona Head-Fi Meet Q3 2016

Will definitely be attending to listen. This ought to help drive my headphone AND DAC purchase decisions!   Yamaha EPH-100 is my travel companion, so there's also that.

    Yamaha EPH-100

Almost immediately after I posted about those fakes, I ordered some real ones from B&H. This is my 2nd (legitimate) pair, and I've had no complaints whatsoever.

    Yamaha EPH-100

Who's got two thumbs and a fresh counterfeit Yamaha EPH-100? This guy: - Strain relief is much thinner on the counterfeit model. - Grille is very half-assed on the duds (left) and appears bulbous. It's a thin sheet that doesn't even match the circumference of the barrel, while the real grille...

    Dunu DN-1000 - Dunu's hybrid IEM - Impressions thread

Man, were these magical for 15 minutes. Then the left side made a popping noise and everything out of it now sounds ultra-staticky and a few decibels quieter. I imagine there's no fix for this.

Please don't hurt me; This is only until my replacement Fiio X3 arrives. Got these ATH-M40Xs just yesterday, and I love them to pieces.

LG G3 as a portable source?

Please note, also, that 'dull' does not necessarily mean 'worse'. I don't dislike it; It may have to do with the fact that my Note's running CM12 with a fauxsound-enabled kernel, but there's just a bit more punch to my ears. Since it's all about personal experience, I am not particularly...

LG G3 as a portable source?

Agreed. I joined the G3 club just yesterday, and the WhatHiFi review was pretty accurate: Clean sound, if a little on the dull side. Naturally, it plays nice with my Yamaha EPH-100, but the impact isn't quite there in comparison to my Note 3.

Sometimes, and only because it takes so dang long to charge.

That is a great-looking case. A sort-of update. I've been using Yams in tandem with a Fiio X3 for a couple of months now. Nothing spectacular, and I may end up exploring other IEMs just to explore other sound signatures, but these two play so well together.

「Official」Asian Anime, Manga, and Music Lounge

Funny thing: It was uncensored immediately after episode 3. No more of those "We're not gonna even bother with mystery ecchi lasers; You just cannot see this" circles.

Pleeeease tell me somebody in here's watching Terraformars, and pleeeease help me drive home the awesomeness that is episode 9. I don't even post here that often; I needed to let it out that badly.

    Sony Xperia Z3 Audio Quality

I will say this: If I didn't already have a Fiio X3, I'd use this Z3 as my daily driver. My IEM of choice is the Yamaha EPH-100 and, comparing the two, the Z3 has a touch more warmth, which is not the least bit unpleasant. My X3 has more discernable detail in mids/highs, but not by any amount...

Left: Sansa Clip Zip (Rockbox 3.13) and Shure SE215. My 'gym pair' once I get the appropriate Comply tips tomorrow. Right: Fiio X3 (3.0) and a heartfelt reunion with Yamaha EPH-100! Had a pair ~3 months ago, ruined them by jogging to the gym on one of the hottest days in June (note my location...

    The Fiio X3 Thread.

So, after much delay from UPS (mostly my own fault), I have received my very first DAP. I had and ruined a pair of Yamaha EPH-100s and am using some Shure SE215s until I can comfortably afford some Sennheiser IE80s. In my 1 hour of experience, I am in love. Deeply, madly in love. Will update as...

    Nexus 5 Sound Quality?

While I do love the output from my Nexus 5, I know there are even better options out there - because they sound better, not just because they're dedicated to music purposes. Don't just ignore DAPs because you can't imagine anything better than your current setup. Heck, I used to think NuForce's...
