Hi I am looking at getting either a W4S Remedy or a iFi SPDIF iPurifier for use on an old Micromega Solo CD transport. Has anyone compared the iFi SPDIF iPurifier fared to the Remedy soundwise? The attraction to the iPurifier is one less cable in the chain and a lower cost. Your feedback...

Nice process. I've enjoyed it. Looking forward to your shootout between the Directstream Senior and Holo, if you decide to revisit it.   I do know someone who opted for the Holo. I'm just wondering if you found the Holo fuller sounding and with more midrange richness than the Directstream Senior.

  Bloom is my sort of thing. I didn't think of DAC selection by the chip it uses as I am not as informed as you are. I attributed the bloom to it being a tubed unit but when I switched it to solid state output (it does both) the bloom was there all the same.   Can you suggest another DAC...

Hi Torq   I just tried it myself.   I just compared the Direct Stream with Torreys upgrade to a Cary DAC 200ts. I  found the Direct Stream a little sibilant and  lean . Don’t get me wrong, I liked it in its own way – there was more openness, inner detail and microdynamics were better...

Hi   Would these be Bad Boys?     The seller claims they are a matched pair but the plates look slightly different and the date Dec 1959 seems way after the 1952-53 Bad Boy period. They look like 3 hole black plates with copper rods though.   Thanks

Hi   How different are the CBS red label GTB's from the GT's? Turns out the seller tagged the tubes as GT's but upon closer inspection of the pics, they said GTB's. Similar in most other aspects except for the bottle being slightly shorter. the top circular label says GT though.
