Can the Shure se846's be the last pair I buy?
Does the ie800 also excel at mid bass or does it sacrifice mid for sub bass? I don't know if I'm experiencing this,"correctly", but I have they beyer dynamic dt770's and sub bass is incredible, but I find the mid bass to drop out. Is the difference between the sub bass between the 846 and 800...- mikejungle

Can the Shure se846's be the last pair I buy?
Thanks a lot for that reply, i think that provides great insight and answers my question to a great degree. Hey, another related question as I continue my research...why do I keep seeing contradictions about the se864 vs ie800's bass performance? Some people say the 800's are bassier, while...- mikejungle

Can the Shure se846's be the last pair I buy?
I think I'd have an easier time justifying the purchase if I know it won't be outdated anytime soon. I had the Westone um2's previously and although I liked them, they never quite did it for me in the bass department, and now there are the 846's which look on paper, to be exactly what I've been...- mikejungle

Can the Shure se846's be the last pair I buy?
Does the sure se846 have the potential to be the last pair of headphones I buy? I guess the spirit of the question is wondering if anyone can fathom technology getting vastly better in the next decade, that would make these sound "crappy", in some way. I just auditioned them with one set of...- mikejungle

Maximizing Fit/Sound w/ UM2's
Ok. I have had my um2's for about 2 years now and I love em. I thought about buying full sized cans, but I don't know if i'd enjoy them THAT much more than the um2's. I <3 my bass. Now I use the shure black olives, they're very convenient and quite cheap at 5 pairs for about 17...- mikejungle

Bass...Punchy...Clear..? "Headroom" question
Thanks for the input. The AKG k 518's sound promising. Does anyone have input on the sennheiser hd25's? I'm trying a pair of the ultrasone hfi700s and I'm not sure I like them. The bass is more of a 'mwah' than it is a 'bap'. I love hip hop (not hip pop) and rock and everything else...- mikejungle

Bass...Punchy...Clear..? "Headroom" question
I know this topic has been beaten to death, but would guys please oblige me? I've read through many many threads about other people's questions regarding bassy headphones. In my price range, I've found that people seem to be suggesting the ath m50's, es7's, denon d2000's, and beyerdynamic...- mikejungle

BROKEN Sony S-545
I bought it at a walmart cuz it was 10 dollars cheaper...does that have an effect? There's a Sony Style close by and a Sony outlet not too far away too...if that has any bearing.- mikejungle

Sony S740 or A840 Stateside release?
Will either of these series get released in the United States anytime soon? I liked my s545 until it crapped out on me and I'm considering getting a new player rather than spend 30 bucks to get a refurbished one that might crap out on me also. Plus, I'd LOVE the extra space. 64 would be...- mikejungle

Is it sinful that I enjoyed Monster Beats more than Grado sr-80s?
thanks for the detailed replies I tried the senn hd-280's and although the bass was thumpier than the sr-80, it was muddy and clearly lacked clarity. haha... do the 600's improve on that? and while i'm sure the denon and sennheisers are great suggestions...is there anything else in a...- mikejungle

iPhone hardware vastly improved?
Hum. Quick question. I used to hate on the iPod phenomenon because I didn't understand why so many people liked it despite its crappy sound (just my opinion, so don't skewer me if you disagree). I mean...I understand Apple has great marketing. I just didn't get why people were so cow-like in...- mikejungle

BROKEN Sony S-545
Has anyone had this happen to their S series Walkman? Almost immediately after I purchased mine last October, I started experiencing flickering of the screen. It didn't affect anything else, but it caused some concern and annoyance. Well a couple months ago, it shut down and no amount of...- mikejungle
