2.0/2.1 speaker setup for $200-$400
I tried a 1/8" to dual XLR cable and the signal levels were much much better, it looks like the SYS has some attenuation even at 100% volume. I'll be sticking with LSR305's now! If she wants to use them for her PC I'll consider grabbing a DAC/AMP combo. Thanks for all the help everyone!- MikalCarbine257

2.0/2.1 speaker setup for $200-$400
Volume is cranked up to 10 as well. I'm starting to consider getting her something else and either keeping these for myself and running a HDP setup on my PC or returning them- MikalCarbine257

2.0/2.1 speaker setup for $200-$400
Thanks for the info, the Focusrite would be perfect if it had inputs other than just USB, she'll use this the majority of the time with her phone around the house. I'll do some research to see if her phone can stream audio through USB to the DAC The speakers are set to the -10dBV so they are...- MikalCarbine257

2.0/2.1 speaker setup for $200-$400
Doh! I picked up a Schiit Sys passive preamp thinking it had 2 outputs but it actually has 2 inputs and 1 RCA paired output. Would I even be able to hook these up properly to the LSR305s? For inputs the LSR305's have a balanced XLR and 1/4" TRS. From what I've been seeing online most...- MikalCarbine257

2.0/2.1 speaker setup for $200-$400
I ended up grabbing the LSR305's and want to pick up an amp for volume control. Would there be any benefit running an amp in front of the built in speaker amps or should I just get a "preamp" that will basically act only as volume control? I was considering the SMSL SA-60 as the...- MikalCarbine257

2.0/2.1 speaker setup for $200-$400
Thanks for the reply, I'll definitely look into those. How would these compare to the JBL LSR305? I've been reading good things about them but I'd run into the separate volume adjustments.- MikalCarbine257

2.0/2.1 speaker setup for $200-$400
My girlfriend currently has some of the original Harman Soundsticks and she's looking to upgrade them to something nicer so I'm going to pick her up a set for Christmas. I was looking at the Soundsticks III which are wireless and would be convenient but I don't think she's ever heard "real"...- MikalCarbine257

Winamp - Channel Mixer/5.1 DSP Plugin
I'm trying to get kernel streaming or ASIO working WITH 5.1 channel mixing in Winamp in windows 7. I was very easily able to do this in foobar with the foo_ks output plugin and a foo_channel_mixer DSP plugin I found here: Channel Mixer (foo_channel_mixer) - Hydrogenaudio Forums which makes the...- MikalCarbine257

Forte vs ST music/light gaming Win7 x64
The unavailability/price of the H6 daughter card is what is forcing me to go with the Forte. Hopefully I don't run into the hissing/static people have been reporting. I could never purchase both cards due to lack of funds, although I'd love to run the ST just for my cans and the Forte for my 5.1/EAX- MikalCarbine257

Forte vs ST music/light gaming Win7 x64
I know this is being covered everywhere but I feel my situation is a little unique. I'll be getting some money for Christmas and I really want to update my crappy Audigy 2 ZS which has horrible support in Win7 to something with better support and sound. Currently I am using DT770 80ohms and...- MikalCarbine257

Current output of amplifier
From what I read supplying the proper current will bring the headphones alive (especially the DT770's, they will get more bassier) and make them more dynamic. The problem with driving these cans straight from my soundcard is that the current output is low but the soundcard is capable of...- MikalCarbine257

Current output of amplifier
I'm in the process of creating my own headphone amp design from scratch. I have a pair of DT770 Pro 80ohm but I want the amp to be able to drive an impedance up to 300 ohms. What kind of current output should I be looking at in this amp? The power requirement for my headphones is 100mW and by...- MikalCarbine257
