    Question about burning in.

i think you can rest assure that after a few months of usage your headphones are already properly burned in. Burning them in really just entails piping music to them for long periods of time so whatever magic (someone else can explain this) needs to happen for the drivers to reach their...

Need help in deciding what headphones to get for use with ipod/computer...

I have no experience with these phones but I believe amazon also carries the Sennheiser PXC250s, the HD280s, and the HD25SP.. I'm sure you can find plenty of information on the board about them. From what I've read they would all fall in to the category of mentionable closed headphones.

    Which home headphones for me?

I own both the sr80s and the HD580s.. I've gone through 3 amps so far with my HD580s and I have yet to see them at their max potential. The SR80s can shine a bit when mated with a good amp but the HD580s are completely different headphones when driven properly. Thats just my 2 cents though..

    Sennheiser HD-280 Pro (bass issues)...

The V6s treated me pretty well when I owned them.. I'd give them another vote if you're looking for a bass heavy phone. Eventually I ended up giving them away because the highs began to bother me. They were a little shrill but not a problem on most recordings. I've seen a lot of them go through...

Help! I need new headphones at work. 580/590/???

I used my HD580 directly out of my SB Live for quite a while and it was able to pump it volume levels that were beyond suitable. The only problem was that it did absolutely no justice to them. The only amps I've tried with my HD580 are a jmt home meta, and a used marantz receiver i picked up for...

    Etymotics s version=help please :)

You could also go with the er-6 which sounds very good without an amp but does benefit quite a bit when amped. I enjoyed using my pair while I had them but overall I preferred the ksc35s and really didn't need the isolation.

Are the Sennheiser 580's good for rock music?

Combined with the right amp I think the 580s can really sing with rock. They might not jazz up things like grados do, but they will provide you with a very sweet sound. I often choose the 580s over the RS1s for a lot of recordings. I find myself drawn in by the character sound of the 580s.. its...

    Soon to be weary traveler

I think you answered your own question if you're already thinking the Aiwas would be a pain. I'm not familiar with that Aiwa model but if its closed and offers a good amount of isolation that would probably be ideal for a long plane trip. I've already travelled with the KSC-35s and had no probs...

    opinion on the Grado lineup

Yeah I too agree with Lou for the most part.. The 225 impressed me the most on the brief audition I had of the the lower end models (everything below RS2 that is).. The 60s didn't really do anything for me but when I got my hands on the SR80s I thought they were really good cans just for...

    headphones for portable mp3 players

I was ampless when I first had my HD580s.. I stlil found myself enjoying them quite a bit. I'm not sure what the output is like out of a MD player but through a decent soundcard they sound okay. Of course it was a whole different experience once I had a decent amp. So I think it makes for a...

    Senn HD580, which amp ?

Hiya.. Congrats on your purchase with the Senns.. I hope you enjoy them. I think you could easily pick up a used or new Meta42 amp within your budget that would meet your requirements. If you want to up the ante a bit a used MG Head would probably be your best bet to make those things sing. I...

    DT880 is to HD600 what DT931 is to SR325?

Hi.. I own the HD580, DT931, and SR80.. The 931 is a lot leaner than the 580 but in some sense act as a comprimise between the two. I've auditioned the SR225 for quite some time and have listened to the 325.. I'd place them in a different category altogether I think. The 225+ slam has a lot more...
