IMR - R1 Thread
Maybe this'll lead to some eye rolls and questions of why I'm reviving the thread, but stuff like this is so rare I have to share it. On Wednesday I left home in a rush with a suitcase — I was travelling to Prague for work. I draped my R1's over my neck and walked to the train station, suitcase...- mfid

Nope. Based on the comments around noise floor and power differences between the BT20 and BT20S I was looking for a steer on which model to pair with the IMR R1 Zenith. I wouldn't say it's an especially difficult headphone to drive, but the hardware in the BT20S seems better.- mfid

What would you opt for with the IMR R1 Zenith? Impedance: 32 Ohm, Sensitivity: 108 +/- 3DB — hoping to pair with the iPhone 7 Plus.- mfid

Ok things are really starting to open up now, I guess burn in is real with these. Firstly fit and comfort - I may order some spinfits but it took digging out some old Comply tips to get a good fit for me. I don't like the idea of disposable tips so will keep looking for alternatives. One good...- mfid

Yea I've had quite a few IEMs in the past. They definitely have the best soundstage I've experienced (only ever used closed-back over ears and IEMs so I've never experienced a huge soundstage anyway), and I get the seal is important. Will see how all the tips stack up- mfid

Straight out the box, after only a couple of tracks, I'm honestly not blown away in the way I expected to be after reading all the reviews. They're good, so far, but I'll reserve proper judgement until after I've played with the tips and filters. EDIT: I also see what people mean about the...- mfid

Always worth asking. He didn't have any when I asked last week, but was happy to offer a really good discount on a new pair. My delivery should arrive today actually - excited!- mfid

I'm also a little nervous after reading the review, having just ordered a pair rather than the Dunu DK-3001. I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile (these are the most expensive pair of headphones I've ever bought), but previously had Denon AH-C700s, which I found to be quite muddy compared to...- mfid

That's a fair point and I did consider it, but figure: a) Don't want yet another device to carry around with me everyday, and charge all the time b) I can't talk on the phone and listen to music at the same time anyway c) Have to draw the line somewhere in all this (in terms of spending money) -...- mfid

Ah yes good point! I've only ever used them with my ATH-M50 (no mic or detachable cable) so that's what I was trying to avoid! Didn't think the DAC might not pass audio through the other way.- mfid

I listen to most of my music when commuting so these would mostly be used as iPhone 7 Plus > Apple Lightning to USB Adapter > Dragonfly Black > earphones. Not the most elegant on-the-go setup, so I'd rather not have to take my phone out my pocket and unplug if I get a call. Wouldn't be a deal...- mfid

Having never spent this much money on headphones I'm on the fence between your 2nd and 3rd groups. Closest I've got was £200 on PSB M4U 4s which were great until one ear stopped working within a couple of months. Pretty much ready to drop some money on these IMR R1s, hoping that I'll be in the...- mfid

How easy are these to drive? Would an iPhone 7 Plus with Tidal and Dragonfly Black be up to the task?- mfid
