    DIY Earbuds

I'm looking to try the 130, 400, (and maybe the 600) ohms in these wooden shells with MMCX connectors and compare them to the classic MX500 shells I already use. I ordered some more drivers and shells and they'll take some time to arrive. At this point I just wanted to get some tips from you...

    DIY Earbuds

@robar There's a way for the wooden shells to get bigger and snap in the drivers. I don't know how it will sound because I didn't solder the drivers yet. I also wanted to make a dip in the shell, so it doesn't break/rip the drivers coil when attaching. This what I tried with the wooden...

    The Zishan dsd's corner

I don't know were to but a SPDIF cable for zishan, I made my spdif cable. Do you have other equipment with SPDIF in where you want to connect the zishan? I looked at your photos and the quality doesn't allow to see any problem, maybe there is nothing to be seen, I can't tell. Sometimes there...

    The Zishan dsd's corner

I already wasn't going to buy an ak4499 portable DAP before this zishan came out, my decision was about price, ~200eur is too expensive for me for a space, battery and budget circuit compromises. An expensive high end ak4499 DAP no budget limit design will also have space compromises and those...

    The Zishan dsd's corner

I'm not going to buy this, so I contributed the way I could. Previous post is an educated guess, AK4499 is a current output DAC, the datasheet uses a I-V (current to voltage) conversion circuit (4xdual opamps), followed by a passive LPF (some resistors and smd caps). Seller also says zishan uses...

    The Zishan dsd's corner

We don't know what is the Zishan DSDs ak4499 2.5mm impedance nor if it has gain (sound volume). I looked at ak4499 datasheet pictures (didn't read any of it) and they use a I-V conversion circuit in the datasheet, followed by a passive LPF. I can't guess what zishan did from the posted photo...

    The Zishan dsd's corner

I find it hard to believe that they (Sanling M5s) made a dual DAC and use only one dac in SE output to hold for a higher model, maybe they did it for the almost double battery life. They already had both dacs inside, they could use both for SE if they wanted, that would be the easy decision. I...

    The Zishan dsd's corner

Yes, that's it. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/the-zishan-dsds-corner.826185/page-160#post-15025178 I didn't change that part of the circuit as I use 300-400-600 ohms earbuds with the DSD.

400ohm are also my favorites, I've even opened a few holes (partial removing the driver tuning paper) for extra detail. (Also using a plastic mx500 shell). I want another pair of 400ohm, can anyone tell what's better with theses drivers, metal mesh grills or mx500 plastic mesh grills? I bought...

    I didn't try it, so I'll send a PM.

    The Zishan dsd's corner

A separated circuit could be used to connect only one dac in stereo mode, but I don't see the reason why they would use only 1 DAC on SE output... could you point me to the post were they explain that? There's no difference in sound quality in SE from 1 dac to 2 dacs ? From marketing point of...

    The Zishan dsd's corner

To implement mono mode in both dacs, this is programed by software but also physically implemented in the PCB circuit and that can't be changed from mono to stereo afterward, you would need a different wired for 1 dac stereo, this means they always need to use both DACs in mono for balanced and...

New- Zishan Z1 DSD player thread

lme49720ha is also my favorite in Z1, but the legs are thick and get stuck in a new socket. Maybe your Z1 socket got loosen with use, it happen to one of my zishan sockets and I replaced it. It's stuck here (in new socket), can't remove it, so I insert this socket on top of the PCB socket:

Maybe you need to replace the stock 2x op275 with something that gives more bass. I have and like 2x AD8066 that Ivan recommended me, they give me the needed bass. I also like the sound of genuine op275 that I bought for other daps, but I dont't like them here. From what I read from others...
