wait so what good is it if I can't get a casing for the plug? what are you supposed to do to protect the connection after you're done soldering?

I've got an old set of Koss headphones that came with a standard 1/4" jack. For convenience, I took the 1/8" cable from a more modern set of AKGs and put it on the Koss. Since then, that cable has broken, and the jack cannot be separated from the cable, but I want to replace it with another 1/8"...
