I have owned both (not concurrently) and would definitly go UM2. They're pricier, but you gain in comfort and detail. The treble won't be as present as these are very bright/dark iems.

Westone UM2s have nice bass and I found them to be more comfortable than my UE super.fi 5 pros.

From what I understand file systems nowadays are faster, more reliable, handle bigger names/filesizes, more metadata and so on. I guess, since Apple has their HFS+, they want to keep things consistent with their hard-drive mp3 players as well. Nobody really uses FAT32 anymore 'cept to easily...
