New Dali iO-12 ANC Headphones – Impressions Thread
I've currently got the Bathys, having owned or extensively tried all other major ANC wireless competitors (minus the Solitaire). Out of all those ivd tried, I think the Bathys are definitely the winners in terms of clarity, but I do find them underwhelming sometimes. I think it's perhaps the...- mdaps4shaz

Never owned a pair of Open Ear headphones - what do you recommend, and what to expect?
I've got a lot of time for the Sony's, and think they are really decent. The stock sound is horrible; way too bassy and muddy. But the EQ app is really good and they can be tuned to sound much more neutral yet still exciting sound. They're supremely comfortable (lightweight and feels like you're...- mdaps4shaz

Never owned a pair of Open Ear headphones - what do you recommend, and what to expect?
Hello, I currently own a number of bluetooth wireless headphones (Bathys, Dali-IO6, and Sony WH5), as well as a pair of ATH-M50X for music production. I've always gone for Bluetooth headphones because of the ease, and the fact that I generally use my soundsystem when listening at home. One...- mdaps4shaz

Focal Bathys Hi-Fi Bluetooth & ANC Headphones: Early Impressions
Edit for double post: so here's another question for those who claim the difference in wired vs BT is night and day: for those of us who have yet to venture into open back wired headphones, what would you recommend as a set up that costs less than the 600 quid Bathys that will deliver twice the...- mdaps4shaz

Focal Bathys Hi-Fi Bluetooth & ANC Headphones: Early Impressions
I'm no expert. But to the people saying Bluetooth will never beat a wired connection: this has been the year that AI came of age (or at least a primitive form became ubiquitous to the public). Are you honestly saying that it's possible for humans to create a technology so advanced that it can...- mdaps4shaz

Yeah, I'd argue the Sony's without the EQ sound pretty rubbish. I've got an EQ that I'm happy with, but would be interested in seeing your settings to see if I can extract a bit more juice out of them.- mdaps4shaz

Focal Bathys Hi-Fi Bluetooth & ANC Headphones: Early Impressions
So I'm week 4 into the Bathys and loving them. I noticed more at the weekend as I was travelling and had my Sony XM5s, and kept on thinking the sound was just lacking in comparison. I've been playing around with the EQ settings, trying a lot of suggestions on here. I liked nomax's, but found...- mdaps4shaz

Likewise, I've got a Galaxy S23 Ultra and I've just tested it: my custom presets delete fine.- mdaps4shaz

Cheers. Will give these a go. Think I'm going to try listening without the Mimi thing to see how I fare with it- mdaps4shaz

Focal Bathys Hi-Fi Bluetooth & ANC Headphones: Early Impressions
Hi all, Recently bought the Bathys (went into my local hifi store to get some RCA cables; left with the most expensive wireless headphones in the shop...I'm an idiot) I'm really liking the sound. A a definite upgrade from my B&W PX, Dali IO6, and the likes of Sony and Bose. A few questions...- mdaps4shaz

Dali Headphones
Glad to hear you've been using and abusing for 3 years. How long was it before the earpads started to wear for you? Also, I get that this is a subjective thing, and that no two people will say the same thing...but - would you say running into ES100 via Bluetooth makes a noticeable difference vs...- mdaps4shaz

Dali Headphones
Yep, I think I just need to get used to the fact that if there's some distortion or clipping, it's probs the recording and not the headphones. As I've said, I love the sound of the Dali's so it's worth just remembering that and trying to not worry that I have a defective pair. I'm not a huge...- mdaps4shaz

Dali Headphones
Hello again, So, having thought I put this to bed, I listened to one song - The Who's Baba O Riley - and the left ear crackle was very present again. This time it was really easy to notice, as it was when the piano comes in at circa 30 secs. The piano is panned hard left. I tried listening on...- mdaps4shaz

Great, my girlfriend will love to hear that... Having listened again this morning to a few things, I think what i am picking up natural sound from the recording and mixes themselves. I think the clarity of the Dali's - say against something like the Sony's or B&W - means these imperfections are...- mdaps4shaz

Dali Headphones
Really interesting write-up, thanks. I've yet to try the Shure, but interesting what you say about them being super revealing and finding yourself 'losing yourself', for want of a better phrase, in the Dali's more. While I like the idea of Shure's extra detail, perhaps them being too analytical...- mdaps4shaz
