    Testing audiophile claims and myths

There was a video from Sennheiser on Youtube about a year ago or so.. they had Engineers reply to questions from users and one thing was about Burn-In.. The Sennheiser Engineers said that there's no such thing as burn-in in their drivers. yet, people will adamantly claim that you need to...

    WiiM Streamers Mini and Pro

Yeah... listen to cables.. Dude! You've missed the DECADES of double blind ABX tests that clearly revealed that nobody can tell a difference, not with 1'000'000 dollar systems.. and not with a 10$ WiiM hardware either.

    WiiM Streamers Mini and Pro

Yes, Coax needs to be shielded to not pick up interference. (As long as you don't run it "in weird places" or too long, a $2 shielded cable will suffice, though) If you can hear a difference, you need to replace your DAC. Because the manufacturer obviously did a horrible job and sold you a...

definitely imagining it.. unless you're running an unshielded 100ft RCA cable instead of a proper coax one..

iBasso DX170 You want your Music? It is right here. *** NEW Firmware: 1.06 Apple support and other additions! ***

"I drop my DAC so often, I already broke three of the same model." Sounds like an issue with quality control for sure... lol

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

do you have any data to support that claim? (devices that measure identically - or at least perfectly transparent - but SOUND differently..) bc there's no scientifically sound data on the matter where double blind ABX tests have been conducted and people passed with significance.. or are there...

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

my guess re the DAC test would be that people were hearing the differences in filters, not the DACs themselves.. since a NOS design allegedly sounds very different from a sharp linear phase filter, some people may prefer one over the other.. several things: 1. older people usually cannot hear...

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

Thanks I'm pretty sure I cannot tell the difference, since I never trained to spot it. Nor do I care, honestly.. I just read that the people who can successfully differentiate between mp3 and FLAC will always look for certain passages in a song (the ones that usually get clipped by mp3...

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

Psychology is incredibly important when it comes to enjoying music. I find it really soothing to watch my VU meters dance with the music, and the dim light on my Yamaha tuner (it's only used for ambient lighting, lol) adds more beauty to my stereo.

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

average sized FLAC albums are over 1gig these days, because artists no longer need to limit themselves to a CD's length.

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

not entirely true. If you do a side-by-side comparison between mp3 and FLAC files of the same recording, most people will be able to spot the difference. You cannot do it by listening to entire songs, nor will every song be equally "easy" to differentiate, but people with training will find the...

"preserve the wave"... so you only listen to original master tapes, then?! gotta be excrutiatingly expensive and cumbersone to get your music, I'd wager?

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

Is the DAC in a computer really "better" for upsampling?! I feel like there's sooo much stuff going on in a mainboard with a huge power supply and all those other things.. I would really rather trust the little dedicated chip in a small form factor desktop DAC/AMP combo. Looking at the...

    WiiM Streamers Mini and Pro

The things you describe as being different between the two should very easily be measurable and quantifiable. Just record the digital stream from the coax cable and do a null test against the input signal you fed the streamers. Since you use an external DAC, the streamers shouldn't do anything...

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

I would really love to see measurements showing the improvement that your stuff brings to the CD.. You sell things that "treat" scattered light issues, that treat vibration issues, and more. If those would cause AUDIBLE problems, then those MUST be detectable by electronic measuring devices...
