SONY MDR-XD-100 $50 However to get the best from this you'll need to amp it portables wont milk the juice from this fine headphone- MASTERTECH

Audiophile headphones?
audiophile = more money however there is no perfect headphone,all have their tone signatures I have come across some cheap Sony ones that have signatures worth $$$$- MASTERTECH

i think you have asked the most interesting aspect of headphone amps and headphone inpendance,first the range of 16ohms - 600ohms is huge , i think there should be no one amp that can drive all this range,second you going to get a compromised result between volume and impendance- MASTERTECH

dvd source is one of the best i play all my cd's on a dvd source amplifier, i cant live without one when it comes to headphones the presentation and detail are amazing headphones, quality matters here i dont look how they sound all that much if quality is good theyll sound good bottom...- MASTERTECH

When will a low-end amp be necessary?
two things you should look for are high volume and low noise for all other parameters you'll need expensive test gear another thing to look for is clean sound some amps make earphones distort and deviate from clean sound cheers- MASTERTECH

hi guys the fact is for those of us in the technical domain "you cant use a bad amp with good headphones and vice versa" the more you focus on one or the other the more duleted you become fact is there is distortion from both tranducer and amplifier- MASTERTECH
