Westone W80
I wish you could still buy the W80 new, the biggest mistake Westone made was discontinuing it. I suppose it was never a big seller for them but if they brought it back as a gen 4 (no changes to the design) that would be awesome. I keep looking out for a used one but as it's used that comes with...- MarkParity

Westone W80
I can't really answer the upgrade question, have a read around this site and other websites. Regarding the technology question, the Shure se846 gen 1 was released around 2013, the gen 2 was released in 2022. These are both fully balanced armature designs like the W80 and the only difference is...- MarkParity

[FIIO FA19] Flagship 10 Knowles BA IEM
Nothing changed with the source or FA19 I assume? What may have happened is you were gradually turning up the volume this tends to have the effect of boosting the higher frequencies relative to the bass and sub-bass. You could also try a volume reset, turn it back down and enjoy listening at...- MarkParity

Chord Electronics ☆ Poly ☆ (wireless & microSD module for Mojo) ☆★►USEFUL INFO on 1st PAGE!!◄★☆
In the early days of Poly it did have the ability to logon to Qobuz directly unless I'm imagining it. Chord removed this as it didn't work. If this was fixed then it would be able to do Qobuz connect, correct?- MarkParity

That's not going to happen but how about a collaboration with a DAP company that makes a DAP with removable DAC modules a Chord module for a AK, Cayin or iBasso DAP would be awesome, again, not happening.- MarkParity

Chord 2Go & 2Yu Wired/Wireless Network streamer and S/PDIF adaptor - Official thread
Exactly. Chord are not going to say that they can't do any software development and its too expensive to consider investing more into the 2Go and Poly as that will alienate the existing customer base and probably some people would reconsider purchasing the product if they just came out and...- MarkParity

Chord 2Go & 2Yu Wired/Wireless Network streamer and S/PDIF adaptor - Official thread
Yes and now that Chord have nobody to make the firmware changes it seems a bit disingenuous to keep promising a fix. I'm retired from software now so I do have a bit of time on my hands to work on software projects on a volunteer basis if Chord did get in touch... I'm not holding my breath though.- MarkParity

Westone W80
No and I did read somewhere on here that the W80 has the least returns of any Westone model, that was some time ago though.- MarkParity

IBasso DC-Elite . . . The no compromise DAC/AMP with a true Stepped Attenuator
That's probably why I never understood why people were complaining that there wasn't enough current from the source device. I've never noticed an issue because I've been using the iPhone 15 pro from day one.- MarkParity

In the news today Qobuz finally officially launch Qobuz Connect. To save anyone the hassle of trying it, Chord streaming products don't support it and never will.- MarkParity

Shure KSE1500 Review - Shure KSE1500 Sound Isolating Electrostatic Earphones
One day it may fail. Mine is five years old and still works for hours on one charge, I think its a good quality battery and isn't really stressed too much in normal use. More worrying was the IEM shells coming apart, as I was out of warranty I fixed that myself some time ago and its held up.- MarkParity

Try a different transducer, IEM or headphone. Most of these dongles at this price level are essentially flat from 20-20kHz. You may have an impedance matching issue though but I doubt anyone can hear a +/- 0.25db difference if its even that much in your hearing range of up to 16kHz.- MarkParity

Chord Mojo 2 Thread ___ [product released January 31, 2022 -- starting on page 95 of thread]
Indeed and over on a Sony DAP thread they believe a certain brand of Micro SD card gives an audible change to the sound as well. Placebo is a strong thing.- MarkParity

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
The BMS is really just switching a bunch of MOSFETs which are used as simple on/off switches, yes its contains a microcontroller but its got a pretty large capacitor behind it for smoothing. :-) Anyway it should be electrically quieter than a regulated power bank or the SMPS that came with it so...- MarkParity

I'm using one of these at the moment with a suitable fuse and inline switch. I charge it with a spare Victron MPPT solar charge controller.- MarkParity
