The Fragrant Zither (TFZ) Reviews and Impressions Thread

Most IEMs have between an 8-10mm driver. The driver in the Live X and other TFZ’s like the No.3 is just over 11mm. Generally speaking, the larger the diaphragm, the more impactful the lower frequencies can be. There is some other magic going on with regards to how they port the shell and tune...

The Fragrant Zither (TFZ) Reviews and Impressions Thread

I have several TFZ IEMs in addition to a dozen others ranging from $40-$500. The TFZ Live X is my daily driver. I am a bass head and these have enough low end to dig in deep and satisfy my need to feel the low frequencies. I use JVC Spiral Dot tips which improve the overall sound. They have a...

The Fragrant Zither (TFZ) Reviews and Impressions Thread

Nice ok thanks! They don't seem to be very popular so I've been trying to find where a good place to buy them is. Do you prefer the overall sound to that of the No.3?

The Fragrant Zither (TFZ) Reviews and Impressions Thread

I need some help: I have the TFZ No.3 and love them after giving them some time to break in and also changing tips helped a lot with some harsher highs. I am a bass head and looking for something with even more sub-bass. I’ve seen some graphs that show the TFZ Live X has even more bass and...

Why would they drop the driver size to 9mm?

Great post and thanks for this. I think the clarity surrounding cables should be that the difference between one good cable and another can be negligible but there is no question a difference between a bad cable and a good cable, and a lot of IEMs come with bad cables.

New IEMs from Monoprice - Hi-Fi Reflective Sound Technology Earphones

They are the same as the BQEYZ KC2, which seemingly have been getting some decent reviews on forums but not a lot of buzz.... Give us some feedback.

    Denon AH-C300 Urban Raver Impressions

I had a seal issue too until I took the support out. Now the seal is great. I go to the gym with these frequently and have zero issues with them. They are easier to pull out due to the bulk of dual woofers but otherwise they are fine. Don't make it sound like your opinion is anything other than...

Senal SMH-1000 vs. Sony MDR-V6/MDR-7506: A Tale of Stolen Swagger

I recently purchased the Senal SMH-1000's from B&H on sale and I have been comparing them for a few days now (after giving them about 48 hrs of burn-in on my dynamic playlist) side by side with my Sony MDR-V6, via an audio splitter, and I have come to some conclusions.  Keep in mind that I am...

    Denon AH-C300 Urban Raver Impressions

Hmmm.. I disagree about both of your comments.  1. People have said repeatedly that these get better with proper burn-in time, and I have experienced this first hand.   2. Most people don't get a good fit with the supports, which is the main compliant among buyers, and thus their bass will be...

    Denon AH-C300 Urban Raver Impressions

The biggest change I found after extended burn-in time is when I use the amp with them.  They sound more relaxed and richer when coupled with the Fiio amp... They can handle it better.

But in a good sorta way :)  The S4's great so you should get some decent sound from it... But if you coupled that with the Fiio E12 Mont Blanc, and you'll be blown away when you flick the Bass Booster switch...

    Denon AH-C300 Urban Raver Impressions

Update from my initial impressions:  These have become my "Go To" dailies.  I wear them every day.   For me, here's how I got a good fit: Remove the stabilizers, find tips that fit (medium soft for me), and voila, you're good to go.  The Stabilizers are not necessary, and really you'll only...

    Denon AH-C300 Urban Raver Impressions

I just bought the Denon AH-C300's and burned them in for about 48 hours: first impressions:   1. They do get better with burn-in time 2. Have a more full soundstage than other 'bass head' IEMs. I have the Sony XB90, EX85LP, Klipsch S4, Monster Turbine, among others and I have to say that...
