Impedence Question About a Sony Receiver

Thanks! I have decided not to buy the Sony, or any other Sony for that matter, because they have been very uncooperative. I do not need a great amp/receiver for this. So I'll just keep shopping. My speakers are Boston Acoustics T1000 tower speakers from the 80s, and they are very good for...

Impedence Question About a Sony Receiver

Nobody has an opinion? I bet if my question was about a $1000 receiver, there would be many replies. I suppose I should have expected this. Peace.

Impedence Question About a Sony Receiver

I am considering a Sony STR-DE197 receiver for TV sound. My speakers are 4 ohms. Sony recommends speakers with 8-16 ohm impedence. That receiver has the capability to drive two pairs of speakers in parallel, according to the owner's manual. When two pairs of 8 ohm speakers are used in...

What Are Your Favorite Interconnects and Why?

I like the AR's from Best Buy and Midwest Cable, which I learned about from this site. Peace.

For the skeptics, which tweaks have you found to actually work?

Sorry, but I do not consider a component upgrade a "tweak". In a few weeks, I will buy a pair of Paradigm Titans to replace the Radio Shack bookshelf speakers in my bedroom. I am sure that just about anyone would be able to hear a huge difference in the sound quality. The tweak that worked...

    DVD Player as CD Player

I finally compared the Sony DVP-NS725 DVD player and the Sherwood CD-7080R. They were VERY close. The Sherwood had a little better detail and a wee bit better depth. I bought the Sony at Best Buy for $116, which makes it a great deal as a CD player and a DVD player. I am very pleased with how...

Cd/DVD component to blwo me away with sound!

I just got a Sherwood CD-7080R (single disc CD player) last week, and it sounds great. In fact, it sounds better than I had hoped. I got it at Buy.com for $176. It sounds better playing CD's than my Sony DVP-NS725. Here is a link to the site: http://www.sherwoodusa.com/prod_cd7080r.html...

    DVD Player as CD Player

Wahoo! I got the Sherwood CD-7080R a few days ago. It sounds great; I cannot belive how detailed the music is. The tonal balance is great too. The music really does sound like music. I cannot imagine a better CD player for under $200. I have not done an A-B comparison with the Sony DVP-NS725...

    DVD Player as CD Player

Instead of the Pioneer, I bought a Sony DVP-NS725 after more research. It does sound better as a CD player than my older Sony DVD and my old Denon CD player that died last year. The bass has more presence, and there is more overall depth. I also ordered a Sherwood CD-7080R single-disc CD...

Found an old CD player. Is it any good?

The Sony ES line was their top stuff. If you do not want it, I am sure someone else will. I am also sure that it was a very expensive CD player when new. Peace.

    Whats your Source?

Main System: Sony DVP-NS315 (soon to be replaced by a Pioneer DV-563AS) Bedroom System: TEAC RW-D200 and a Denon DRM-555 Peace.

    DVD Player as CD Player

I am going to go with the Pioneer DV-563AS next time I go to Best Buy. Pioneer stuff is very reliable, and the Pioneer also has 192kHZ/24-bit audio like the Toshiba. Thanks everyone. I'll post a review when I get it, which may not be for a few weeks. Peace.
