Sorry to derail the thread a little bit, but it is partially connected: On a closer inspection I noticed that 4 220uF/400V Elna LAH caps may need replacing - their top is not ideally flat. According to Elna spec sheet those are 1.508 ESR/0.87A ripple current. When choosing a replacements...

Yes, trimmers are VERY sensitive. As for the drift, let it warm with the cover on (but unscrewed), slide it off for a short moment, adjust (before it cools down too much), slide the cover back on, let it get warmer again, observe in which direction the voltages drift, slide it off, adjust taking...
