Moving on from the Grado SR60

So I have had my Grado SR60's for about a year now, and while I have enjoyed them very much it is time for an upgrade. First off, I do not think I want to continue down the Grado line for the time being; I want a phone with more soundstage and instrument separation. Also, the highs get to me...

which IEM's actually benefit from an amp?

Sorry for the double post, I meant to edit the last one and for some reason went to the bottom of the page and started typing in the quick post box after hitting the edit button. UPDATE: I read about both the SE310 and SE420 on Headroom again, and noticed a detail in the SE420's description...

which IEM's actually benefit from an amp?

I am currently about to buy a pair of new IEM's from shure (either the se310 or se420) because my friend is helping me get a good deal on them. It seems to me though, that they all have relatively low impedance and I am pretty confident my zune will drive them well. Anyway, my real question...

Looking for new IEMs, tight budget, any recommendations?

Radio Shack sells the Ultimate Ears super.fi 3 for only $49.99. That is without a doubt your best bet under 50 bucks

    w00t 30GB brown zune $79

Well I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this deal when it was available. I hope it sounds better than my iPod 4th gen through my PA2v2. Really, I just needed more hdd space, and I figured for 80 bucks I can't go wrong. Does anyone know how the zune sounds through its headphone port through a...

    need help from iMod owners

Generally speaking, what kind of space does a lossless file (i will probably settle with FLAC) use compared to a 320kbps mp3? Are we talking two, three, or ten times the size? I think my mp3's are generally 1/5 the size of the wav files they come from, and at that size i barely fit all my files...

    need help from iMod owners

thanks MrJingles! I'm glad to hear my files will be adequate enough to last through the upgrade. I really don't care whether or not the headphone out works after getting the mod, but I did just made a line out cable for my ipod that plugs into the dock connector, so i guess it will be pretty...

    need help from iMod owners

I have read a little bit around here about the iMod, and it sounds like a great upgrade but I have a couple of questions for iMod owners. Would it be worth it to invest in such an upgrade with my current set up (iPod 4G color with variable bit rate mp3's V0-V2, generally 320-192kbps through a...

choosing a follow up to grado sr60

Ok so I have had my SR60 for a little while and I have decided to get another pair of headphones. I am looking for something a little less colored than the Grado. I like the in-your-face sound and all, but sometimes I would rather relax to my music. I am thinking Sennheisers; which model should...
