Lend me your Wisdom - time for an upgrade.

Thanks for all the advice so far. I've read up a LOT more on the contenders and I think Cel4145 was spot on with the HP50. For my listening, their combination of warm sound, accentuated bass and accurate imaging sound like just what I'd want. I still think the M-100s would be fun for some...

Some good comparison threads. Thanks for them pointing out. Sounds like a lot if people prefer the NADs for their lightness and comfort. I also found my way to Innerfidelity's wall of fame which has some excellent reviews and comparisons. The description of the V-Moda Crossfade M100s is pretty...

Bump. Any alternative suggestions to the NAD visos anyone? Would like to weigh up a few options if possible

So I downloaded the respective frequency response graphs for my denons and the NAD HP50s. Can anyone talk me through the results? To the untrained eye the HP50s seem to have much stronger bass, but could be weaker than the denons across higher frequencies. Am I misreading here? Denon AH-D1001...

I'm not an expert here chief, in fact I haven't used the forum in years, but I'm fairly sure double posting is frowned upon fairly heavily in any forum. As you've already requested this advice in an earlier post and recieved some responses it might be sensible to close this thread.

Discussions and reviews on here seem very positive. A good suggestion to start with thanks. Particularly surprised about how well people describe the sound stage for a closed set

Happy to start looking at anything between £100-200 ($130-260). More than that and I'll need to save a while longer. Been using the using the denons for a range of music, but also for gaming (fps) so a half decent sound stage would be nice. Must be closed

Lend me your Wisdom - time for an upgrade.

Hello all. So a few years ago I came to head-fi for advice as I stepped into my first purchase of a 'good' pair of headphones. I was blown away by the detail and attention of the advice I recieved here and was hugely happy with my eventual purchase, a pair of Denon AH-D1001s. Last year I...

Thanks for all the advice guys, particularly eyedrop for giving some really focused ideas and feedback.   Finally picked up my Denons this morning.  Out of the box they sounded really good, certainly the best headphones I've owned.  Played for a bit, then went out for the day and left them...

Well, I ordered the Denons at the weekend. Managed to try a few different things in BestBuy last weekend - a great pair of high-end Denons that are way past what I can afford, but said good things in the way of quality and comfort.  Bose quiet comfort were still veeeery seductive, just got to...

I've pondered on this for a few days now, and I think I'm going to give the Denons a shot.  I think Bass is too great a part of my favourite music to get phones that can't deliver it, and Although the look of the AT's really grabbed me at first, I'm really starting to think I'd prefer something...

Thanks EYEdROP, have researched them now.  Hadn't looked at Denons at all until now, but sounds like they match up really well to other suggestions.   I think I'm getting a fairly rounded picture of my options now. Currently I'm considering either the ATH AD700, or Denon AH-D1001.  M50...

Quote:   Fair point eyedrop.  Is hard to describe sound as a bit of a newb to high fidelity, but I can try.   I think "a more smooth warm sound" is a good way to describe the right sound for me. Something with a smooth power to it.  Yes, I like bass and consider it important in my...
