Reply to review by 'magneto1964' on item 'McIntosh MHP1000 Headphones'
I am surprised by the review as my experience is quite different. I have the MHA100 and MHP1000 for 6 months or so, and even the two albums that you mentioned. I also have McIntosh MT-5 turntable and a high-end phono I find the bass deep yet very well balanced, none of what you described. There...- magneto1964

MCINTOSH LABS INTRODUCES NEW HEADPHONE AMP MODEL MHA 100
That is a 50% premium in the UK...is McIntosh a big seller in the UK or the rest of Europe at these prices? At the end of the day you have to account for VAT, import tariff, distributor margin, transport, etc, on top of the store margin. You are looking at 24.5% VAT+tariff alone. We have the...- magneto1964

MCINTOSH LABS INTRODUCES NEW HEADPHONE AMP MODEL MHA 100
Great thank you everyone for the guidance. Surprised to hear that the apple/itunes is problematic, but will try out some of these solutions. Btw I just connected the MHA100 to an integrated AV system from Bang & Olufsen and it works great - I can now share one set of active speakers between my...- magneto1964

MCINTOSH LABS INTRODUCES NEW HEADPHONE AMP MODEL MHA 100
Generally i have found the quality of music through the USB connection not as good as through coax. I am not sure if it is an issue with the computer, itunes, cable or the MHA100. I have the latest generation macmini connected via USB, and a CD player connected through coax. I ripped a CD into...- magneto1964

MCINTOSH LABS INTRODUCES NEW HEADPHONE AMP MODEL MHA 100
Ah this is good to know - I was under the impression they were similar. And of course very happy with the MHA and MHP1000, the latter which i bought based on your excellent recommendation. And you are correct - i all depends on the application. In my case as most of my listening is headphones...- magneto1964

MCINTOSH LABS INTRODUCES NEW HEADPHONE AMP MODEL MHA 100
You can find out prices with a quick search on the internet or audiogon. The MHA100 is $4500. This is is my first experience McIntosh and i have been extremely impressed - I have my CD player and apple connected. My only caution is that it is easy to be bitten by the bug - since then i have...- magneto1964

McIntosh MHP1000 Headphones Announced in CES
Musicman59 - thank you for the detailed diagram! I had taken it to the dealer before I saw your response and we did the exact same thing and all was good. After some more listening it is starting to bloom. I am amazed by the depth of the sound. And the added benefit of a closed headphone. ...- magneto1964

McIntosh MHP1000 Headphones Announced in CES
Just acquired the MHP1000 and use it for 2 hours with the MHA100 (have had this for about 8 months). A few first impressions - the highs a bit harsh at this stage but I believe this should improve with time, as the demo phone I tried at the dealers displayed none of this. I have my CD player...- magneto1964

MCINTOSH LABS INTRODUCES NEW HEADPHONE AMP MODEL MHA 100
I was going to comment that this has not been an issue for me for a long time and then it happened today. Essentially the USB connection was lost when the last song of an album in itunes completed. I just turned the MHA100 off an on and everything was back working. I recall I had this problem...- magneto1964

MCINTOSH LABS INTRODUCES NEW HEADPHONE AMP MODEL MHA 100
I bought mine from a local dealer and carried it home. I strongly recommend it. The only thing missing is a pho stage as i decided to buy a McIntosh MT-5, but now have to figure what to do for the preamp. As previous post Audio Classics may be a good place for used MHA100 if they have it.- magneto1964

McIntosh MHP1000 Headphones Announced in CES
I have not but do have the HD600, and will go for a MHP1000 test drive this weekend or next. i have the HD600 and MHA100 and the combination is excellent. There is nothing left wanting in my opinion. However I need a closed HP so looking at MHP. Just wish it were a bit less expensive.- magneto1964

MCINTOSH LABS INTRODUCES NEW HEADPHONE AMP MODEL MHA 100
Definitely would buy it again. I have had no issues running for several months, and the sound is fantastic. Gave new life to my 15 year old hifi system and ten year old headphone (HD600). Just need to add a closed headphone (maybe MHP1000) and a new turntable (maybe MT5) to connect to the amp...- magneto1964

MCINTOSH LABS INTRODUCES NEW HEADPHONE AMP MODEL MHA 100
I will likely never use the speaker portion of the MHA100. After 5 months I am still very happy with my decision in terms of sound quality, footprint and connectivity options. I also may use it a little different than most, as I have my CD player connected to it, and soon my TV, aside from the...- magneto1964
