    Senn HD800 Ultimate, "Maxx" Mod

Hello, I came across this thread searching for HD800 mods, I have unmodded HD800 currently. Of course, I know about and was planning on the SDR mod at least. You mention here an alternative to the SDR mod materials... "So there was a balance to strike, and the 800S was the result. Very nice...

Massdrop x Focal Elex Review & Measurements

No one is really mentioning the limited distribution as part of the reason for the moderate purchase numbers. There are a lot of posts on Massdrop about not being able to buy it for the EU, etc.

Massdrop x Focal Elex Review & Measurements

Note that in the FR graphs with the direct comparison between the Elex and the Clear (second and third to last graphs at the start of the thread, one raw, one with compensation applied) the frequency range goes down to 10Hz, making the bass rolloff look much more severe than it would on a...

Massdrop x Focal Elex Review & Measurements

I have a question about soundstage for those who have heard this headphone and for this Focal line in general. The specific reviews here don't really go into it. I am not a 'soundstage width' junkie because ime wide soundstage usually means poorer left-right imaging. I passionately dislike '3...

Massdrop x Focal Elex Review & Measurements

This is an important note. The one graph that looks like the Elex bass drops off massively is a non-standard graph 'hidden' among the other ones. It's honestly a little sloppy to slip it in that way with the other graphs without a note...not everyone is going to look at it that closely.

    Good no-nonsense blanced XLR interconnects

Thanks...BJC looks like the best out of those. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

    Good no-nonsense blanced XLR interconnects

I am looking for quality, no-nonsense (no 'audiophile' snakeoil bs) reasonably priced balanced interconnects with Neutrik connectors, length 1.5-2m (5-6ft).I know about BJC, I've used their single-ended ICs before and have been pleased, so I am looking for alternatives in a similar price range...

Do Brainwavz HM5 and Fischer FA-003 use the same drivers?

OK, I had to bite for the $100 deal. I've been looking for full-sized closed cans on and off for the last few months just to round out my 'type of headphone' collection, but I'm picky and not a collector for the sake of it so I didn't just buy and try for the sake of it. The Fischer's were one...

    2010 Sony Walkman Line

I snagged an E345 16GB a few months ago on an Amazon sale for $70 and I have been fairly impressed. Not that I use it this way regularly but it sounds decent driving HF-2's, not that they are high impedance but they are full-sized cans, and it sounds great with 'flat' settings driving various...

James444's IEM giveaway thread (competition has ended - see post #344 and #354 for winners!)

This is really nice of you, WOW!   I've never heard a BA IEM so I'd be curious to hear the CK100  but anything for free is great! I am also curious about the out of production, at least under that name, Cyclone phones even though I took advantage of the recent discount on the...

    first IEM: ~$100(+/-$20) 'all arounder'

I've posted in the fs forum to buy some used, bonus is he's including Sony hybrid tips too which by all accounts are great for many IEMs. I just hope they aren't *too* V-shaped as in mids that are missing relative to bass/treble versus just mids that are balanced with treble and some extra bass...

    first IEM: ~$100(+/-$20) 'all arounder'

I've read over |joker|'s big review and I think perhaps I have similar tastes to his. The Hippo VB I think is too much of a 'bass phone' for me...when I say 'bassy' I mean just on the heavy side of neutral not an outright bass-heavy phone. I just want fullness rather than neutral/flat/rolled...

    first IEM: ~$100(+/-$20) 'all arounder'

Oh gosh here we go, mi$$ion creep! (Just $20-30 more, then suddenly you're at $400! lol) The DBA-02 do sound very nice just from reading. I've never had a BA headphone though so I don't know what quirks that comes with and maybe they are getting a little FOTM hype. It seems the RE0 might have to...

    first IEM: ~$100(+/-$20) 'all arounder'

TL;DR VERSION: Looking for an all around IEM to use unamped that won't break the bank, with decent isolation, balanced to slightly dark/bassy (but not bloated/boomy) sound but with non-rolled off highs. Good details but not something that constantly screams for attention (fatiguing.) This is...
