The SkeletonDAC
Thanks for all your clarification with this Tomb. Following your recommendations I've finished my Headphone DAC with 1200uf caps (as I happened to have some that I could salvage from an old mixer) and housed everything in a little extruded aluminium case from Hammond. I soldered my USB cable to...- Madebynick

The SkeletonDAC
Tomb Many thanks for the reply sir. You have set a few things straight in my head which is a big help. On your advice, I took delivery of some 75ohm resistors and will integrate them into the new cable I'm building. I do think I need to do some reading around this subject however as...- Madebynick

The SkeletonDAC
Following my order of a SkeletonDAC, I have a couple of questions for you guys if one of you could help? I made my own IEM's with great success a few months ago and have been contemplating a DAC to complement them for a while. They are not difficult to drive and as such, I think that there...- Madebynick

Home-Made IEMs
To make my earmoulds I used a skin safe silicone for the makeup industry and injected it into my ears after inserting a foam plug I cut with a hole punch. Once these were done, I dipped them in wax and cast a negative mould using a 2 part silicone mould material. Using this mould I was then...- Madebynick

Home-Made IEMs
Following this thread inspired me to make my own IEM's about 6 months ago. The units shown below are version 1, containing a single BA driver taken from some UE phones. The result was surprisingly AMAZING.I will never wear universals again. All in, these probably cost me about £40...- Madebynick

Suppliers of headphone cabling (not readymade cables) in the UK for my DIY customs?
Which mogami cable are you thinking of sir? I had a good look around but I only found a miniature mic cable that looked vaguely appropriate. I think it was the 2697. Any other suggestions? There is also a canford cable, 30-501 CANFORD MST CABLE that also looks suitable but I can't say I've built...- Madebynick

Suppliers of headphone cabling (not readymade cables) in the UK for my DIY customs?
Hello everyone, I hope you're all well. I've recently finished building some customs and am very pleased with the results. I am using a stock headphone cable which has been doctored to suit and is doing an admirable job. It is starting to split near the jack and is is a...- Madebynick

Anyone have a SuperFi cable going spare? I'm happy to fix one that is broken at the jack.
Hey guys, I hope you're all well. I'm wondering if anyone out there has a spare/broken SuperFi cable lying around at home? My earphones are dying on me and I am reluctant to spend £35 + shipping on a replacement cable if the 'phones themselves will not last much longer. I'm pretty...- Madebynick

Anyone know a UK source for acoustic tubing that I can use when building a custom IEM?
Hello everyone, I hope you're all well. I'm currently building myself some custom moulded IEMs but am stuck at the last hurdle. I can't find a supplier for the tubing that is used to channel the sound from a BA driver down the ear canal. It seems to have numerous names and I have found...- Madebynick

Calling all sound engineers - how does the soundtube leading from a BA driver affect the sound of an IEM?
Interesting you say that Ethan as I have kinked ear canals too. Twas another reason why I was asking this question; I am considering custom sleeves but am not sure if they would fit into my ears properly and whether the resulting sound tube drilled in the silicone would ruin the sound from the...- Madebynick
