looking for a new source: denon 2900 or philips 963
IMHO the Denon 2900 has beautiful audio out, especially with Hi-Res source such as SACD and DVD-A. I use it both with a 7.1 system and my corda ha1-mk2, beyer dt880 setup and it sounds excellent on both.- mad3d

Good grief, my CD3000s actually arrived.
Dang....well, I guess some other time I'll have to hear the cd3000s. Good luck in grad school!- mad3d

Hey, we should get some people together in the umcp area to compare cans...I've got some DT880s, HD580s, and Philips HP890s with a corda ha1-mkii. You've got your 501s and cd3000s with a meta 42. And I know a couple people with some grados. Lets some together and compare.- mad3d

Philips HP890
I must agree, they do sound quite nice but overemphasized in the bass area. Sorta like strapping some car (not home theater) subs to your head. Fun to listen to though!- mad3d

Comparison of Sony MDR-V700DJ, Phillips HP890, and Sennheiser HD580 (Warning- long)
Quote: Your review just goes to confirm the relative mediocrity of the V700DJ. True, quite true. They would be fine if everyone who bought them at 30-40, not 150...- mad3d

Comparison of Sony MDR-V700DJ, Phillips HP890, and Sennheiser HD580 (Warning- long)
Comparison of Sony MDR-V700DJ, Phillips HP890, and Sennheiser HD580 I am crazy. Really. I am a freshman in college and I have two major hobbies, computers and sound. Not good for the money situation….! I am constantly upgrading, selling old stuff, and upgrading again. Eventually that cycle...- mad3d
