Impressions and comparisons: Pioneer Monitor 10; AKG K240 DF; Pioneer Monitor 10R; Philips N6330; Sony DR 6A; Sony MDR CD900 ST; Beyerdynamic DT48E.

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but the 10R are contemporary production aint they? Pretty hard to compare to the others when given the timespan they have been around/decay of materials etc. Pioneer monitor 10-II would be more correct to bring to the equation. Still interesting to analyze the...

    DT880 vs DT990 | Comparison & Review

Wow, this thread has really kicked off in a short timespan.   Being a dedicated DT150 cult follower for almost two years I would be very interested to have these thrown in the mix, especially because I have barely ever heard and experienced the Sennheiser HD580/600/650 series. That said, I...

Songs that make your headphone WOOOOOW!!!

Currently Billy Cobham's newer fusion stuff is giving me eargasms. -"Electric Man feat. Brian Auger" is one.   Also for those interested in electronic stuff with great level of production I can heartily recommend almost everything made by Berlin based Extrawelt. Especially the tracks...

I need some good cans. Please help

Hmm. Some people have been touching on the subject if it's really a good idea to go for fullsized cans on the go, and specially with an iPhone4. I definitely agree, I'm also not too fond of the idea of using an amp with the iPhone either as that would kill mobility and ergonomy.   If I were...

Headphone and microphone (currently considering Razer Carcharias)

I have been using the Steelseries 4h for about a year, and for me it works flawlessly. One nice feature is the retractable mic, you can just tuck it into the cup when not using it. It is a fairly cheap headset as well. It is rather light, but for long gaming sessions I don't see that as a...

Graphic designer with an audio dilemma: Grado sr225i or akg k172

Sounds like a Beyer DT150 or 770/250 would do the job!

Ripping Apart An ATH-2: a continuant saga

Wow, that's a VERY helpful reply. Thank you so much for taking your time in putting this straight! I'm not a clumsy person in general, in fact quite the opposite as I have been working a lot with architectural models which require a large amount of precision. I just think I need more experience...

Ripping Apart An ATH-2: a continuant saga

Thanks a lot ericj! If you have any thoughts regarding the wire attachment to the wire, or the best way to do it please let me know.   As for the baffle, I do have a dremel and think I could make a decent hole to get the driver flush with the baffle surface. But I wonder, how will that...

Ripping Apart An ATH-2: a continuant saga

Time for some thread necromancy! (and a possible pic overload+wall of text; disclaimer)   After a little more than a year, I finally mustered the strenght to work a little on my ATH-2's. I have lately developed an increased interest for orthos, and the vintage-neo-retro-futuristic design of...

    BeyerDynamic owners unite...

Still loving my DT150's; have been way to long a time not experimenting with amps. These phones have really served me well and I am excited to see how they will scale. New job, increased cash flow, time for some amping! I'm curious about trying a tube amp, darkvoice 336 or such. Tubes make me...

    AKG K518DJ

My only concern regarding durability would be the cable. The stock cable is pretty flimsy and thin. I recabled mine with some microphone cable and put a ty-fast and quickglue where they exit the cup. Combined with a neutrik plug they were very sturdy.

Whats up with those antennas on grado headphones?

HAARP The truth is out there. Honestly.

Ok I really need to nail down on one pair of cans, too many average ones bought/looked at.

IMO, the DT770's dont need an amp but you definitely benefit from one SQ speaking in the long run.(this is judging from my experience of using 250 ohm DT150's on the go driven by iAudio D2+rockboxed Ipod G4, satisfactory sound levels) Out of the ones you listed I can also say that they will...

    Recommendation for Bassy, Unamped Headphones

Refurbished/used Sennheiser HD25-1 if you can find a pair, or as a budget alternative AKG k518dj's.(if you can consider going supra-aural)
