AKG K240 or Audio Technica AD500x/700x for my first foray into open headphones
Here's the pricing on Amazon info for the phones I'm looking into. AKG K240: $80 AKG K240 mkII: $115 Audio Technica AD500x: $90 Audio Technica AD700x: $160 Sennheiser 558: $128 Is the AKG K240 mkII really $35 dollars better than the standard K240? AKG K240 or Audio Technica AD500x/700x for my first foray into open headphones
Thanks for the recommendation. How does the comfort and soundstage compare to the K240 and AD500x? Also, I've heard allusions to the "Sennheiser Veil". Do you know how the sound quality would differ between the senn and the other two?- looneytune29

AKG K240 or Audio Technica AD500x/700x for my first foray into open headphones
Hey Head-Fiers I'm looking to make my first foray into open headphones and I think I have it narrowed down to basically two: the AKG 240 and Audio Technica AD500x (possibly AD700x). First, a little background. I have a pair of Shure SRH440's with the 880 pads, which I enjoy the sound of. The...- looneytune29

I just got back from the store with the Shure SRH440's. They already sound awesome and I haven't even burned them in yet. Thanks for all the advice!- looneytune29

Well, it seems all signs are pointing to the 440's. I would love the 840's, but I can't really justify the added cost (poor college student). I'm going to do a little more research. I'll be back if I have more questions or if I pull the trigger on a pair.- looneytune29

Yet another "Looking for headphones $100-$150" thread
Thanks for the tips. Does anyone know how the sound of the over ear shure's compares to the in-ear? I'm definitely intrigued by the SRH840, although it is a bit pricey. Is it really worth the additional $90 over the SRH440 (SRH440 is $72 on Amazon and the SRH840 is $160)? Also, generally...- looneytune29

Yet another "Looking for headphones $100-$150" thread
I've been trolling around for awhile and decided it's finally time for some advice. I'm looking for some new headphones because my old pair (Shure E3C's) decided to break on me. This is the second pair of Shure's I've had that have broken in the same way (second pair was a warranty replacement...- looneytune29
