Schiit Asgard 3 - Impressions Thread
So, I asked earlier about the gain stage and the RCA out, since I needed some gain to drive two active amps (subwoofer+pair of Adam Audio monitors). This was just the ticket. It's replacing a SYS. I like having the passive option, but I like the sound of the gain stage even at low levels and it...- Leigh

Schiit Asgard 3 - Impressions Thread
Apologies if this has been covered in this thread: Does the gain switch affect the RCA out? I am looking for an active preamp to drive my active monitors and active sub, and passive isn't cutting it for me. Basically I want a SYS with +12 dB gain. I'm not interested so much in the headphone...- Leigh

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Fulla 3 question for you folks: Does the ADC record both from the mic input and the analog line input, or just the mic input? It would be cool if I could mix the mic input with whatever I send through the analog input and have it get into the ADC. It looks from the docs like the analog in that's...- Leigh

Mike, perhaps you could expand upon what you mean when you say what I've bolded. I would imagine some of that is proprietary, but maybe not. I can math to Calc3/Diffeq.- Leigh

I'm curious as to what operating system and software you are running on the NUC. At some point I am going to need to replace my squeezebox Touch. Are you using the USB output into the Mimby?- Leigh

What's funny is when I did my own Uber upgrade the LEDs didn't line up but I liked it because I could still tell that they were on, just much dimmer. Then I get the multibit upgrade and those crafty Schiitters got them lined up perfectly again! Time to order some dimmers...- Leigh

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)
I just revisited this thread after a month (have been busy). I'm currently on holiday in Croatia. I am in love with the Adriatic! I didn't know the ocean could not smell bad :) I will reserve judgment on the Gadget until I hear it. I am a bit suspicious of a small pitch shift making such a huge...- Leigh

I too am a "lowly" Bimby owner. I may never upgrade, it's that good. I could seriously live with this things until my ears turn to dust.- Leigh

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I believe the reason why some cables are "directional" is that on one end the shielding is not terminated, supposedly to keep noise low. Or something. Bluejeans are what I use and as "fancy" as I'll get. It's funny how cables stop mattering when you stop thinking about them.- Leigh

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Great chapter, Jason. I especially enjoyed the power supply section. The loathing of switching power supplies is understandable if they are not shielded/filtered properly. I used to be active on ham radio on the HF bands (think AM/shortwave radio). For a long time I was plagued with a very high...- Leigh

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
Well, you'll get no argument from me. All my cables are Bluejeans. I just don't worry about cables very much. So long as it's the right gauge, shielded well, and has low capacitance, and decent connectors, I just don't sweat it. I don't subscribe to the cables-as-magical-equalizers line of thought.- Leigh

Thanks, I get it now. I am thinking of getting a Yggy, but need more time with the Bimby - which might be good enough for me. I have to tell myself that anyway.- Leigh
