    Any reason you picked HP-580?  How would you choose among closed, open, semi-open?  Does the AT-5000 spec look good to you?  Open, 60 ohms, 95±3dB, 15Hz-30kHz, 600mw.  Is 60 ohms too high for portables?

    Listening to the Monoprice 8323 now.  Still don't quite understand the difference between MEP-839 and MHP-839.  Overall first impression is very good, better than TH-02's first impression.  Thanks again, bhazard.

    I'd agree that it's mostly the plastic and I could hear the ringing as well.  More breathable pads would definitely help.  I've tried some cloth and taller ones and it's better.  But they are not good fit and lack the cloth shield.

    For break-in, I just listen to whatever I usually do.  I heard about using pink noise or special signal/cd, but haven't had much experience yet.  Anyone has any thoughts on the pros and cons for each approach?  I wasn't impressed with them during the first few mins, but then it opened up rather...

    Yes, I heard it just needs a good cleaning on the plug.  The earpads are easy to remove.  I'm also waiting for some good and cheap earpads suggestions.  But they are already getting better with use.
