The shop have just told me that the higher the impedance then the easier it is to drive, which is it?

Ah I see cheers. I take it it would be the 50 ohm version that wouldn't necessary need an amp then?

Seems there are 2 versions of the 595, a 50 ohm version and a 150 ohm version. They cost the same amount. What difference do the ohm values make? Does it mean one is easier to drive than the other?

Cheers for advise, after a week of use I can see why these really do need an amp. Unfortunately the right can is making a rattling sound, so they will have to go back anyway.

Ta for the recommendations. Got my k501's today. They sound great to me un amped (though im no audiophile), but on one classical guitar songs I had on it had problems with some small parts of it. I guess that's where the amp comes in? I tried them out with a film as well, whilst watching...

How much would I be looking at for an amp 2nd hand? If only the AD700's used a conventional design, would definatly be going for those.
