Sennhesier 595 lost bass and volume in right side
My 595's right speaker let off some crackling sounds, then it lost half its volume and all of its bass. The cable does need renewing again. Any chance its just the cable at fault and not the right side driver as well? Edit: Took it apart and now its working fine. There was some loose...- ledzepploid

Budget USB DAC/AMP recommendations please.
Unfortunately not. However, after I spent a few hours trying to get to the bottom of it last night, it was not nearly as noticeable as it had been. I can still hear it with my headphones, but I can drown it out with music. I tried the usual things: remove usb and front audio headers, change...- ledzepploid

Budget USB DAC/AMP recommendations please.
Thanks for your suggestions. I mostly listen to classical. It would also be used for gaming. Some Oculus Rift demos have started to implement binaural audio, I don't know if that changes which dac/amp I should opt for. The Asus Xonar DGX is only £23. Would I still hear the ground loop...- ledzepploid

Budget USB DAC/AMP recommendations please.
My new pc build has a ground loop problem. It likes to hiss at me whenever I do somthing so I am in need of a dac/amp. It will drive a 50ohm Sennheiser HD595. Budget preferably is under £100. I can go higher if it is warranted though. A few I have noticed on Amazon: Topping TP30 -...- ledzepploid

Sennheiser 595
Quote: Worth keeping in mind here that the lower the impedance, the more efficient headphones are in converting the incoming electrical energy into sound. On the contrary, the higher the impedance, the more electrical energy is required to drive the headsets tiny speakers. Found that...- ledzepploid

The shop have just told me that the higher the impedance then the easier it is to drive, which is it?- ledzepploid

Sennheiser 595
Ah I see cheers. I take it it would be the 50 ohm version that wouldn't necessary need an amp then?- ledzepploid

Sennheiser 595
Seems there are 2 versions of the 595, a 50 ohm version and a 150 ohm version. They cost the same amount. What difference do the ohm values make? Does it mean one is easier to drive than the other?- ledzepploid

Amp for an AKG K501
Cheers for advise, after a week of use I can see why these really do need an amp. Unfortunately the right can is making a rattling sound, so they will have to go back anyway.- ledzepploid

Amp for an AKG K501
Ta for the recommendations. Got my k501's today. They sound great to me un amped (though im no audiophile), but on one classical guitar songs I had on it had problems with some small parts of it. I guess that's where the amp comes in? I tried them out with a film as well, whilst watching...- ledzepploid

Amp for an AKG K501
Thanks for the suggestions but those are all rather expensive, and some several times more than my headphones cost. I was looking for something around £100 max.- ledzepploid

Amp for an AKG K501
Been researching headphones and just forked out £103 on a K501, and now the search for an amp begins. Can I have some recommendations please? I've no idea what sort of price range I'm looking at to get the most out of my headphones. Am I looking at over £100 here? I'm a bit lost, I've only...- ledzepploid

HD 595 or akg k501? (un amped)
Would something as cheap as this suffice? Or is everybody thinking more along the lines of Pro-ject Headbox Headphone Amp? Think I will buy the K501 for now, hear it for myself and purchase an amp later if I think it really needs it - my standards are probably a lot lower than most of you...- ledzepploid

HD 595 or akg k501? (un amped)
How much would I be looking at for an amp 2nd hand? If only the AD700's used a conventional design, would definatly be going for those.- ledzepploid
