Anyone have an answer for op or previous question?  I could also get a pair of 595's for 145 but would need a surround amp of some sort.  Is there any cheaper option than the mixamp?  I am way over my budget.

Is the ax720 amp much of a downgrade from the mixamp? If the repair goes south, I will need a headset right away. I can upgrade in a bit if I'm not too happy with the 720s.

Is sennheiser notorious for flimsy phones? My 5h's fell apart with light use and these cracks are disheartening. I might give them a try with a mod of some sort though if I cannot get these hpa's up and running. That is if they are worth it.

Oh and would someone chime in on what could have caused the headset to buzz very loudly. I believe I just provided power without plugging into my sound card. Is the only cause for this a shot amp?

I'm not sure if I would feel comfortable giving sennheiser anymore of my money as the 5h's I had just fell apart on me. I will certainly read up on them and think about it though. Anyone have any experience with the hpa's I have?
