Although not labeled as such, there was an event equivalent to CanJam in SF that was organized by Ethan some years back. I was a volunteer and flew in (to Oakland -- and then by BART) from Reno. It appears that a decision was made to hold the west coast event in SoCal instead of the Bay Area.
