    Headphone Sightings 2

Saw some random guy on the subway using ATH M50's with the coiled cable today. He put the coiled part into his man-purse and seemed to really be enjoying w/e he was listening to...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

You are absolutely right. I am using my DT48's with some modded ATH M50 pads that do not have any openings in the inner folds, so when using the headphones with closed backs, the highs sound a bit painful and bass is anemic. Removing the small screws that hold the cups onto the sides while...

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

Finally bought some HD650's as I am moving to a new place and have to sell my studio monitors. Event ASP8's, PMC TB1's, Dynaudio BM6's, and even my old B&W ASW1000.    The 650's sound like the TB1's with the ASW1000 with a cut off at 30hz in an acoustically treated room --amazing for a...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Just wanted to report I was finally able to twist off the side caps from my DT48's to check out the insides. Have to say that putting the caps back but leaving the screw holes open has an interesting effect on the lower frequencies. Anyone else try this?

Anyone out there using studio monitors as desktop speakers?

Quote:   I definitely agree. I also have a thing for passive monitors, even if matching them with a good power amp is necessary; it is well worth it. I own actives too, but I feel more secure (for some odd reason) when I can decide the guage of cables I will use and have the power amp...

Anyone out there using studio monitors as desktop speakers?

I recently put up some of my monitors for sale and couldn't help but notice, while going through some posts here, that studio monitor names usually don't come up as suggestions for people seeking desktop speakers for their homes.   It's actually pretty surprising since most 3" - 5" or 6"...

Isone Pro - the best thing you could ever get for your headphones on your computer

So I've been trying out the VST, and so far it works well with my Sennheiser HD280's. On the other hand, Isone just doesn't seem to work well with my Ultrasone 2500's. Not sure if it's the "S-logic" technology already being employed by the headphones, but even after messing around with the Isone...

Need a simple and cheap USB to SPDIF (coaxial) converter

I recently acquired some Troisi DA converters, so I'm on the market for a simple USB to SPDIF converter so that I can set them up on other PC's. Anything at 16bit, 44.1k and up would do fine.   Any help is appreciated; my budget is $50 dollars or less.

College student in music production - Headphones or monitors?

Quote: They can be had used for 100-150. Ebay and even the buying/selling forum here on head-fi often has them for that price. For their design and ability to reproduce the sound that they do (as evident in their head-fi thread HERE), I don't think there is another headphone out...

College student in music production - Headphones or monitors?

Buy a pair of Beyerdynamic DT48 and be done with it. There is no other headphone within it's price range that will allow you to bring your mixes closer to a pair of Studio monitors in a well treated room than these headphones --well, at least this is my experience. I've gone through a long list...
