Best recorded albums of all time?
I've heard Band on the Run described as being poorly recorded (done in Nigeria on relatively outmoded equipment) but on a good system I personally always thought it sounded amazing. But so much is down to the pressing when deciding on sound quality. I have heard different pressings make the... -
Linn Records has decided to follow the money
A real shame to hear that about Linn - a company I really respect(ed). I'm still listening to a lot of vinyl personally, but also quite a lot of CDs still - and considering a purchase of a Chord Hugo DAC (or more likely one of their cheaper variants) as I demoed it a while back and was... -
Top 3 favorite bands?
The Beatles Rolling Stones Jimi Hendrix Experience -
What's your favorite song?
Either Strawberry Fields Forever or I Am The Walrus by The Beatles. (probably...) -
Flawless albums
There's not much to choose between those three actually. For me Revolver always just pushed slightly ahead of Rubber Soul - I like the psychedelic guitars and the air of boundaries being expanded that pervades the album. Also, my first ever Beatles album was the Red 62-66 which included about... -
Flawless albums
As a first response I'd say Revolver by The Beatles (yes, I even like Yellow Submarine!), Sticky Fingers by the Stones, and although I'm not a huge Zep fan, I always thought Physical Graffiti was pretty close to perfect. You've got me thinking now Will probably have a list of 20 albums... -
Flawless albums
I honestly don't think I have ever heard an album that was 'flawless', though some have come close. -
Music that makes you cry?
The new Adele single which I heard earlier today. (Generally not my taste in music, but it was good...) -
Music you're too embarrassed to admit that you listen to (but will disclose in this thread)
With the joy of Spotify I have put together a playlist consisting of music from Sesame Street. Mainly a Bert and Ernie greatest hits collection (including the masterful 'Rubber Duckie' song). Though I do also have a soft spot for the Cookie Monster's 'C is for Cookie'. (Still, it's... -
Classic Rock Quiz
A slightly surprising 14 for me. Many guesses. Did better on the Beatles one - 16 - shows what a lifetime's obsession gets you I suppose. -

Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
Can anyone tell me whether I would be able to run the he-400i using a balanced cable? Would there be any difficulties due to the changed connectors? I'm currently using LCD-2s in balanced mode from a RWA amp, but they use mini-xlr plugs. (I had a browse on the HifiMan website, but...- kenH

Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
I'd welcome some advice. I'm in the process of revamping my hi-fi set-up, intending to switch from a headphone-only system of LCD-2 (rev 2 pre-fazor) and Red Wine Audio Corvina to a Naim 5si amp. (many reasons for this, so please don't advise me to try an alternate headphone amp or go for both -...- kenH

New Member Introductions thread
Hi All, My first post here. I'm in the process of changing my current headphone-only system - comprised of Audeze LCD-2 and Red Wine Audio Corvina - to a system with integrated amp/speakers + new phones. Maybe that opener is enough to get me kicked out right away... Although I will by...- kenH
