I can't help thinking that simply plugging and unplugging the cable would clean up the connection enough to hear if that was cause of any improvement.

I covet things like this but I wonder whether they'd be a revelation or a disappointment? Would my money, which i really don't have, be better spent elsewhere in the range?

Not really, the cups are vented and the backs just seem to increase the bass from the drivers.

I had my Sennheisers for many years before I was given a pair of 325s for Christmas. At first the Grado's sounded all wrong, too bright and too forward in the mids. However, after a while they seemed just right and switching back to the Senns has me wondering why everything is now dark and bass...

I can compare them to my HD 600 and they are more lively, fun and 'real' than the Sennheisers when played through any of my amps.

Tube savers allow you more of that orangey goodness.

And then they're gone again!
