The bass is not over powering I would say smoth , but with the EQ in the app you can tweak it some

I just got the PXC550 last Saturday. First the sound deadening is very good, you can even adjust it through an app or turn it off all together. I can't comment on the px100 hopefully someone else can. They are light and comfortable and have a good sound to me, coming from the HD 558.
