Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)
Yeah, HD600, as good as they are, can be quite shouty at times. Otoh, HD800S are sheer butter for the ears, eargasmic.- Karajan

HD800S beats handily HD800 for classical, lol. As a matter of fact, beats it in every genre. Maybe it's about time I sell my HD800, ;)- Karajan

HD800s are virtually unlistenable for prolongued periods of time of more than about half an hour. Detail retrieving is superb but the soundtage sounds kinda flat,if wide open- Karajan

It's way better: more musical; more holographic imaging; better soundstage( deeper anda wide as the HD800's); and way less fatiguing(not fatiguing at all, actually, at least in my experiene with them). Amazing headphones.- Karajan

Same gear. The difference was absolutely noticeable within the first 20 seconds of listening the HD800S. A classical Haydn symphony, to be precise. Better soundstage, better layering, better separation. No need to burn in to notice the major difference. Way smoother and warmer, more engaging, I...- Karajan

Just bought the HD800Ss and they're definitely a notable upgrading coming from the HD800, even with the great sdr modding. They are way warmer, bassier, and more musical and fun than its illustrious predecessor. I didn't expect such a huge difference, tbh. They are absolutely non fatiguing...- Karajan

Biggest Disappointment Headphone
Focal Elears. Listless, bland, apathetic sound, without personality. Smallish soundstage, weird imaging, horribly unenergetic treble. Mediocre base at best. HD650s blow them out of the water- Karajan

Next upgrade from Sennheiser HD650
Keep the HD650s. They are sheer gold, perhaps the most musical and smooth cans out there- Karajan

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
The key for the HD650 to sound awesome is a correct sinergy and amplification. In my experience, you'll need a relatively bright and fast DAC/source to offset a tube amp ( or a comparatively warm solid state one, moon 230had for instance) for the HD650/6XX to adequately shine. Thus you'll get...- Karajan

Best DAC/AMP option for Sennheiser HD650
The Moon 230had makes my unmodded HD650 sound amazing. Organic and spacious soundstage;way faster; tons of clarity; enhanced treble and superbly smooth. I use it with the Auralic ataurus as a Pre amp, a great solid state combo for the HD650 imho.- Karajan

Most overrated headphones?
All the AKGs, all the Grados, pretty much every Audeze. To sum it up, pretty much every headphones' brand except Sennheiser is overrated- Karajan
