Burson Composer 3X Performance (ESS9038, DSD512, Bluetooth, balanced output...)
Small update on my Composer that I’ve had for just shy of two years now. Still going strong, sounds great. It’s in pre mode with XLR out and RCA out to a sub. Pretty happy with it considering the 40%ish discount I got at the time.- kael13

STAX SRM-D50
How did it snap? Were there signs of wear and tear on it before it broke? I gave them a thorough listen to for a few days and have been really enjoying them. I had it in my head that they would sound a little unnatural with the huge amounts of airiness and detail, from what I remembered from my...- kael13

STAX SRM-D50
My first set of STAX have arrived! L700 mk2s. I'm beyond excited to give them a listen. The packaging and build is really rather lovely. Very retro chic. Picking up a barely-used D50 tomorrow about an hour's drive away. I got a good deal so as long as it's all in working order, I'll be very...- kael13

The Stax Thread III
Mmm, the price is great but I have a Topping PA5 that failed completely in one channel after 6-8 months and had to go back. From a quick ASR survey, something like 30% of buyers experienced the same. I’m a little wary.- kael13

The Stax Thread III
Hey all. So I tried some STAX Lambdas 4-5 years ago at a hi-fi shop, I think it was either the L500s and L700s or the L300s and L500s, can't remember which but I and my dad were definitely wow'd and talking about them excitedly the entire drive home. They seemed to knock it out the park with any...- kael13

Funk seems like an odd choice for a balanced DAC?- kael13

Burson Composer 3X Performance (ESS9038, DSD512, Bluetooth, balanced output...)
Hopefully it's okay if I make a second post to talk about my setup and experiences rather than gripes and annoyances. Currently I'm using the RCA out to an inherited integrated amp by Arcam - an FMJ A22, circa 2000. It's rated at about 100W, then to my KEF LS50s which I'm using as desktop...- kael13

Burson Composer 3X Performance (ESS9038, DSD512, Bluetooth, balanced output...)
I just had my Burson Composer 3x delivered and set it up, connected to my Win 10 PC. First thing of note, the remote doesn't work. Great. I opened it up and took a look inside, it seems fine to me, so... Contacted my dealer and Burson about that one. Second issue, I can't work out how to get...- kael13

ThieAudio Signature Series Tribrid IEMs
Any recommendations? A pure silver cable sounds expensive! I normally think cable switching is just for aesthetics and 'psychoacoustics' but I can see the merit in pure silver with a sensitive IEM. And I'm not saying it's got problems, more that I'm curious about the top performing IEMs by...- kael13

ThieAudio Signature Series Tribrid IEMs
Forgot to ever add my impressions of the Oracle, I just kinda got them and have been enjoying them since. Using stock cable and the CP100s they came with. I might try other tips but these are comfy and that's the most important factor. I listen with a BTR5 connected via USB to whatever source...- kael13

Well... My Oracle is now at my local delivery office.. Which happens to be closed on a Wednesday. Just my luck. Edit: nope! Here they are! Impressions to follow. On a meeting all day but from 2 minutes listening - very smooth! And enough bass... Don't know what I was worried about.- kael13

Apple Music Now with lossless high-res and spatial audio
How have you got that connected? Via Lightning to USB-C? I haven't managed to get Dolby Atmos working on my Mac using a DAC, via USB or Bluetooth. It does work using the built-in headphone out though. Any reason why? Same BTR5 Bluetooth DAC works with my phone just fine.- kael13

ThieAudio Signature Series Tribrid IEMs
Nice impressions! I'm very intrigued to hear how the EST drivers handle treble, which really I guess is the magic for this series. I've tried some STAX L700s in the past and they give a little otherworldly sense to their music, it's kinda unlike anything else, with so much detail but no harshness.- kael13

Good to know that shipping only took a week, that's less than I imagined. Well I'm excited to try mine! I imagine the Monarch is a bit better on technicalities but I couldn't justify the price and possible discomfort for the size of the casings.- kael13
