The New Schiit Audio Yggdrasil Impressions thread (read the first post)

The review does highlight a problem with the Yggdrasil (IMO). From the review: emphasis added. Only the US input and the Optical input have transformer coupling for galvanic isolation. None of the other SPDIF inputs do. For most people this is a non-issue. But, for me it was a problem. Case...

The New Schiit Audio Yggdrasil Impressions thread (read the first post)

The SE out of the Yggdrasil is only 2V. The amplification factor of the 12SL7 input tube on the Kenzie is probably 70. With the amplification factor of the 1626 at 5. That is pretty high gain. Which would imply, as @Les Strat alluded, that the Kenzie wants a 1V source? I don't think a passive...

The New Schiit Audio Yggdrasil Impressions thread (read the first post)

I received a new Yggdrasil a couple of weeks ago. Haven't done any serious comparative listening yet, but, I do use a Freya in mostly passive mode. Sample setup: Marantz SA-14 > RCA SPDIF out > Zu Audio Event coaxial cable > RCA SPDIF in > Yggdrasil > Balanced Out > Cabledyne Silver cables >...

    The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread

Hmmm, buy a backup HD800 or wait for a real potential replacement (that is not the HD800S)? 1st world decisions...

Schiit Freya Impressions and Tube Rolling Thread

Do we really need to email Schiit to find out what they changed? The website still lists a gain of 5 (14dB) for the tube stage. Is it now a gain of 2, 3 or 4? I would prefer a lower gain tube stage for my Freya. Although technically speaking, I don’t know how linear the 6SN7s would be with the...

Schiit Freya Impressions and Tube Rolling Thread

Sorry to hear about your issues. But, I ordered a quad set of the LISST tubes. When they arrived, I didn't even think to inspect the metal pins to make sure they were pristine. I just inserted them into the preamp. And haven't touched them since. I'm quite happy with them when using...

TRINITY - PHANTOM Series - New thread + WORLDS FIRST PUSH PULL HYBRID IEM!*

FWIW: Got the ready-made Plussound balanced cable. I did have to grind down the notch in the recessed 2-pin sockets with a 2mm chisel. Since this is the dual-driver "Sabre" PM6, can't say much about the sound. But, been trying a few of the filters.

TRINITY - PHANTOM Series - New thread + WORLDS FIRST PUSH PULL HYBRID IEM!*

So, it seems they stuffed two drivers for what's left of the orders just to get them out the door. And I am guessing, including the ones I got. Oh well. I'm pretty much done supporting these small "fly-by-night" outfits. If I'm going to pay and wait for hacked together DIY experiments, I can do...

Yep. Based on the photos of regular 2-pin connectors, the PM6 has a non-standard implementation. I ordered the entry level Plussound cable (EXO Series). Now, I gotta think which DIY mod to do: the cable or the IEM. Will report back once I receive the cable. Thanks!

Can someone confirm that the IEM connector type used for the PM6 is a universal 2-pin. That is what it looks like to me. Thinking of getting a 2.5mm balanced cable to use with a couple of sources.

Well, got my PM6 yesterday. Don't plan on selling. Will try to fine-tune the sound with the filters. Will use them mostly with a L&P L3.

    New Questyle CMA400i

Got mine from TTVJ today. Quick install with my workstation PC. No issues with the downloaded driver. A quick hookup with the Senn HD650 (single-ended) and Shure SRH1840 (balanced). Right now, I prefer the Shure headphones. Lo-gain with the volume pot wide open. Probably will need to revert...

Schiit Freya Impressions and Tube Rolling Thread

I'm sure this is discussed elsewhere in other forums, but usually microphonic tube noise is caused by the resonant frequency of the chassis structure. The less mass there is in the chassis, the more likely you will get tube noise from your speakers when the chassis is tapped. Increasing mass...
