Maybe it's because to me the Z1000 seems louder in general. (I generally listen at lower volume.) That and what I perceive as a slightly exaggerated bass in the Sony.- jorzef

Sony MDR-Z1000 vs. MDR-7509HD?
Hello, While I have not listened to the MDR 7509HD, I have used the 7506, mostly for checking news broadcasts. Not sure how those two compare, but the MDR 7506 sounded dark, that is, as if the treble had been turned down. Maybe muffled is another word to describe it. Still, they did a very...- jorzef
