  1. Shure SRH 940

The name Shure alone stands for its long time professional heritage and live components. So I was intrigued before listening.    I listened to at least 5 different music tracks and three different sources (including my usual jds headphone amp). I got consistent impressions this is a not in your face type of headphone. While it convey the sounds in a non offensive neutral manner, I can't say it is accurate in terms of dynamics in the lows or high registers. When connected to a Pioneer amp, it became evidently a bit harsh in the high register.  ...

I had the opportunity to listen to this at length against some other similar priced gears.   After pairing my device, it magically struck me WOW!   As I tried a number of music tracks , it became apparent the deep bass was almost one note and somewhat disjointed with the upper registers. 3. Sony MDR-MA900 Over the Head Style Headphones

I managed to try this MDR-Ma900 against others in the same shop.    The comfort and ergonomics of this Sony are very good.   Initially, I was pleasantly surprised how nice it sounded.    But after a longer listen I realized there seems to be grains and slight harshness especially the violins and mid upper registers.   I compared the same track and different music to be sure and the same graininess was there.   At this price and time of writing, I think there are better models out there with better highs than this.
  4. Xtreme Xplosives On Ear

I tried this twice with different devices. It sounds pretty good with big bass sounds and probably suit a lot of youngsters today.   Many very young people that I know prefer Beats or something similar with the gadgets they owned.     But if you owned a dedicated audiophile amplifier, forget this and test it with something else. !
