Jethro Tull recommendations
Trawlerman, I am also a huge Steeleye Span fan. Jethro Tull definitely runs in a parallel vein (especially in the mid-70's) to Steeleye Span. Ian Anderson actually helped produce Span's 'Now We Are Six' album, and Maddy Prior sings backup on Tull's "Too Old To Rock 'n Roll, Too Young To Die"... -
Kraftwerk or Tangerine Dream?
Chillysalsa, try 'Encore', 'Stratosfear' and 'Richochet' - very much in the same vein as the other TD albums you own. -
Kraftwerk or Tangerine Dream?
FalconP, I think you meant 'Cyclone', TD's 1978 album where Steve Joliffe sang vocals (via vocoder) on two of the three cuts. He also played flute in addition to keyboards alongside Froese and Franke. 'Cyclone' and the following album, 1979's 'Force Majeure' were TD's attempts to amalgamate... -

Who Vs. Led Zeppelin
The Who. Quadrophenia is a masterpiece. I've always loved Zep, but I think I may burned out on them over the years. -

Best Floyd Album
The Final Cut! Animals is probably my second favorite, followed by Meddle, Wish You Were Here and Obscured by Clouds. Haven't heard Atom Heart Mother and some of the other early releases. I agree with you Dusty - Echoes rocks. And the sound quality is so much better than "side 1" of that... -

I'm in a prog rock mood.
There's a lot of great suggestions here, and I agree with all of them. However, there a few that also bear mentioning: - UK - only two albums, but pretty good stuff - Gentle Giant - different from a lot of other Prog stuff of the 70's, but truly excellent in its own way. Start with the... -
I'm in a prog rock mood.
I just listened to the Rhino "Tales" last night, and I feel that it is superior to the Japanese remastered version. The improvement is slight but significant. Of course, the Rhino isn't HDCD-encoded as the Japanese remaster was, but I still feel the Rhino is superior even on an HDCD-capable... -
Super loud movie theatre

Cary SLI-80 Question
The "Subwoofer Out" on the Cary is actually just a Pre-out (e.g. it's controlled by the volume control). If that works for you, then the Cary should do you just fine. Note that the Cary has no fixed, line-level outputs, such as a tape loop.- JohnActon

Aphrodite's Child - 666 WOW
Yes, Vangelis' earlier works are definitely darker, all the way up through Albedo 0.39 and Spiral, in my opinion. After that, he started to move more towards his symphonic leanings (Mask, China, L'Opera Sauvage, etc). I've never heard Earth or Hypothesis (or Dragon, for that matter). I didn't...
