Thanks guys I'll probably either get a clip or maybe buy a dead ZVM and try to replace the screen. The amp3 looks nice and I see then reasonably priced on Ebay but I'm not too sure yet. good options though.

Bought mine on the FS forum from a member for cheap and like them. The bass isn't that bad, I mean really not bad at all, what was everyone complaining about? Got some shure foams on there so it's nice and comfy and the cord never really bothered me, it's the one off my sf3s.

just bought SF5s and while they have more low end, for the price, it's hard not to be impressed by the SF3s. Really a nice little bud.

I have been consistently impressed with my super.fi 3s and would reccomened them. You can get them on buy.com really cheap if you are willing to take red. im716 are decent too but their "pod" makes them tougher to power.

I love ultimate ears but I think if you are going to buy new, the SA6 with the price break is your best bet. You are out of the basement price wise so everything in this range is good, so don't be too worried.

I'm in the same boat as you, just looking for a simple speaker setup. If you need a cheap/decent receiver look around craigslist or shoponkyo.com you can save a lot of money buying used. Also, some of the old stuff is really nice.
