Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions
Honestly, I hate the principle of EQ'ing. If I need neutrality, I'll go with something neutral. If I want a frequency response that resembles the Himalaya's I'll choose something colored. The basics of an EQ are quite the opposite of the word "audiophile" as some artifacts will be added to all...- jeronim0

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions
The M50X sounds very aggressive with some harshness in the highs, not sure if heavy metal will sound that good through it- jeronim0

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions
What I learned and tried so far, the PM3 is very source and amp dependant. It does have one of the most beautiful bass I ever heard from a portable pair of headphones, very tight and punchy when the song calls for it, but surely not a basshead heaven. Everything is very well balanced and gives...- jeronim0

Cayin i5 Lossless Android DAP with AKM4490 DAC supporting 32/384 PCM + 64/128 DSD
Impedance adapter through an amp will do the trick but not on a dap. Whether I use it on the i5, my AK240 or DX80, the sound will be thin and lifeless- jeronim0

LG-V10 Hi-Fi audio quality review on serious audio performance
I don't like the modular dac of the G5 because it is way too expensive for an accessory. I hope that LG won't get into such thing again- jeronim0

LG-V10 Hi-Fi audio quality review on serious audio performance
I'm curious about the variant of this dac as ESS 9018 Hifi is an 8 channels dac and the portable version is only 2 channels. The reason why ESS created a portable dac is to optimize battery usage on small and non dedicated dap devices such as smartphones. I'm not too optimistic about this new...- jeronim0

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions
The sound DOES DROP on lossless and much more on Hi-res and DSD. Even with Aptx things haven't got fixed yet, but we can expect better in the coming years.- jeronim0

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions
The PM3 pairs very well with idevices, the mids are fabulous up to 8khz which means that piano and strings sounds very natural and revealing, voices are top notch and one of the highlights of the Oppo- jeronim0

iBasso DX80 . . impressions and reviews. . and discussion NEW FW: 1.6.0 ** link . . 1st page . . .
It's not about drivability but pairing issues, further to my understanding and what I noticed so far, the DX80 is very similar to the AK240 and can sound very bad with some headphones on the bright side. I don't know much about the EL8's tonality but experienced a very anemic sounding with 3...- jeronim0
