Sorry to hear that your Carbon is hors de combat, as I have dreaded that happening to mine. WOOT.com sometimes has refurbed carbons for around US85.00. I picked up a refurbed Pearl there not long ago. No hitches so far, but it is not in regular use yet, just charged, upgraded to 3.04, and tested.

I found the Longmorn 10 to have some really odd notes that seemed to remind me of nail polish. On a budget, one could do worse than White Horse.

I second the Bottlehead recommendation. The Sex amp can also be used to power fairly efficient speakers (perfect for mini-monitors at the computer!). --Jason
