    Speaker amps for headphones

I have an old Hafler DH220 that I would like to try with my HE-500's and Schiit Bifrost and am thinking of a passive preamp. I would use the setup only with these headphones, no speakers or other headphones. I read somewhere online (so it must be true) that for passive preamp you need an...

    Audio-gd Master-5/6/8/9 balanced head amp/ preamp

I am in the process of finding a great amp for my current HE-500 and possible HE-6 in the future. The usual suspects in the tube realm- WA6SE, Taboo MkIII and then I saw this thread and am looking into SS amps now as well. Is the Master 9 more than I would need... Precision 1 too little? Anyone...

Bottlehead Amplifier Discussion / Comparison Thread: Crack, SEX & Mainline

Forgive my ignorance but doesn't the TRS jack output less watts to a set of headphones (HE-500 in my case) than the speaker outs? If so, doesn't that affect the sound?

Bottlehead Amplifier Discussion / Comparison Thread: Crack, SEX & Mainline

So I can run the HE-500's off the SEX speaker taps- need resistors? I have them now on a Bifrost/Asgard combo and don't like the sound- 11 o'clock is loud enough and the bass is great but the rest seems bright, tinny, just not full enjoyable sound. Ran them for 4 days straight when new to break...

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

What is about a digital signal that makes it incompatible with the mini-x?

From the mini-x manual- Connecting an input source to the Mini-X A-100 The A-100 expects a line level analog input source via unbalanced (RCA) type connectors. Since the A-100 has a front panel Volume control, your source may be either fixed or variable level. (DO NOT connect a digital...

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

Hello all; Received my HE-500's today and plugged them into what I have at the moment- Asgard/Bifrost and the big thing to hit me is the bass, the rest... hmmm. I guess I need to let her burn in for a few days and try again. Maybe the 1w out of the Asgard is lacking as well. While I squirrel...

Count me in... couple hours east of El Paso but get there fairly often.

How does the HE-500 compare to the Stax 507- that's my budget range for headphones. I am looking at either Woo WA6SE/GES or a Taboo MKIII. Music- classical, jazz, ambient. Any issues with fitting a large noggin into either?
