    AKG K452

I eventually got an adapter. It took a long time to arrive, and it looks beautiful and sturdy. But plugging it into my Sony Experia V phone revealed that it did not make proper contact, and microphone and answer buttons still don't work. Better to just get a Samsung smartphone (S4 and upwards, I...

Yulong Sabre D18 thread: reviews, impressions, discussion (full review added 2/5)

I don't use a USB transport at all. I feed the Yulong with a networked media streamer via coax and a bluray player via optical.  The DAC does duty in my main system.

Agreed. It is very critical of optical. I finally got a QED optical cable that it wasn't too upset with. I wish it had two coax inputs and no optical at all, actually. For some reason, Toslink is a poor option as an audiophile channel, and not just with the Yulong.

    AKG K452

From what I've found out so far, it seems the real difference between the K452 and K451 is that the former has a mic/one-button remote cable that works with Android phones and the latter has a mic/3-button cable that works with Apple phones. And of course only the K451 wins the prizes and...

Is there a difference in sound quality between the D18 with a blue power LED and the D18 with a green power LED?

Thanks, you are right about the Marantz, of course, but it sounds so good with my CD player and turntable. But thanks; a dfferent amp may well be the answer.

Yulong Sabre D18 thread: reviews, impressions, discussion (full review added 2/5)

I have had my Yulong Sabre D18 for going on two months now and while I love the rich detail and authority of the sound, I cannot get used to the muffled upper midrange.  There is no air in the sound.  Admittedly, XLR out is a bit better than RCA, but honestly it's as if Yulong tried to drive all...
