MDR-7506 and Magni/Modi V1 Noise Issue
Unfortunately I have no idea. I purchased used. Results of test with DT 770's were so close to being perfectly ok (which would have confused me more). None of the quiet-but-ever-present sound like it wasn't grounded, but there was an ever-so-slight scratching sound when turning the volume...- IdiotRhino

MDR-7506 and Magni/Modi V1 Noise Issue
The magni v1 doesn't have any high or low settings. Just on or off. I tried it with every pair of headphones I own and no issue with any others, just the 7506's. My conclusion has boiled down to this: There is something wrong with the Magni that only shows up when it's having to push a pair...- IdiotRhino

MDR-7506 and Magni/Modi V1 Noise Issue
The first thing I tried was swapping out adapters. I grabbed the adapters from at least half a dozen other pairs of headphones, some that screw in and some that don't. No matter what nothing changed. Honestly it sounds like something electric. The noise it makes constantly changes in frequency...- IdiotRhino

MDR-7506 and Magni/Modi V1 Noise Issue
So I have the Schiit magni/modi originals. They work great. M50s sound great on them, AD-700s sound great, K240s sound great, heck, all my headphones sound great on the stack. Except my MDR-7506s. Plugged into the Magni/Modi they create a phasing static and the volume nob is very noisy. Plugged...- IdiotRhino

AudioQuest Dragonfly Review : Affordable, Outstanding, Tiny DAC / Amp
Perfect answer. I currently have Superlux HD 681, Sony MDR-7506, Audio-Technica AD700, and Audio-Technica ATH-M50 headphones, so my next step is to buy a $400+ headphone. But that wont be happening any time soon, so I figured I would get the best out of what I have. I have a Fiio E11 for...- IdiotRhino

AudioQuest Dragonfly Review : Affordable, Outstanding, Tiny DAC / Amp
Believe me, I would love to do that. Unfortunately, right now I can't quite make that happen financially. So if one were a betting man, what would you go with?- IdiotRhino

AudioQuest Dragonfly Review : Affordable, Outstanding, Tiny DAC / Amp
So, my question is this: If I can get the v1.0 for $50 or the v1.2 for $100, which should I go for? Taking into consideration the price/quality ratio, would it be worth the extra $50 to go on ahead and get the v1.2? As a side note/question, would it be better for me to get the Fiio E17...- IdiotRhino

Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 : fit and comfort mod!
^^^ Nevermind. I got a hold of what I needed. Instead of using masking tape I decided to use some Heat Shrink on the cable. I reinforced the area where the two ends touch with electric tape just to make sure it doesn't tear. Just another option. Certainly a...- IdiotRhino

Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 : fit and comfort mod!
I'm looking to do this mod in the next few days. I was wondering about the Open Cell Poly Foam, though. Any kind I find online has the adhesive side to it. Am I supposed to get the kind with the adhesive or is there somewhere I can get the foam without the adhesive?- IdiotRhino

The "Headphones That Significantly Perform Above Their Price Point Thread"
Quote: Funny you mention half of my circumaural collection in one post. The M50s were my introductory pair into the world of Hi-Fi. I got them for $120. As far as accuracy goes I absolutely love them. Bass heads wont be disappointed, but by no means do they go overboard. Without...- IdiotRhino

Beginners Record Player Setup
Quote: Hey now! Don't knock them. For the price they are pretty sweet!... But I do agree. I intend to get a pair of Adam Audio A7X Powered Studio Monitors. However, due to the fact that I listen to the vast majority of my music on headphones I have never had a very urgent need to...
